Sub Urban watches the world burn in the video for Cradles, directed by&nbsp;Andrew Donoho.&nbsp;Burning rooms, creepy mannequins and faceless toddlers with finger-guns start the proceedings, as we take a huge leap away from the mainstream and crash-land into the world of Sub Urban - as interpreted by Donoho.The inspired mix of live action and haunting scribble animations creates a juxtaposition of innocent youth against a dangerous and violent adult world, and Sub Urban is in the middle of it all. And in this age where Billie Eilish and Joker&nbsp;resonate so strongly, it's lack of innocence&nbsp;and graphic violence feels very on-trend.The visual takes cues from the childlike instruments and samples in the track, including a music box and bubblegum popping, and transforms these into something haunting. Sub Urban is terrific as an angsty and rather unhinged character, taking the absurdity in his stride and accepting his dark fate as the video progresses. And the vignette of faceless mannequin ballet dancers is a stroke of brilliance.With creative direction from Sub Urban himself, and the hauntingly beautiful style that Donoho impresses on every project, this is a match made in heaven... or hell.&nbsp;

And then, as it's time to redock with the space station, there comes one hell of a bittersweet ending.

Sam Pilling&#39;s superb, cinematic video for Chaka Khan&#39;s Hello Happiness harks back to the time when this legendary soul diva was first hitting the charts with funk outfit Rufus, in the early 1970s. And it all revolves around a single phone booth outside an LA motel on a single night.Pilling makes the phone booth the focal point for a piece with a rich cast of characters and multiple storylines: there&#39;s the lady of the night, leaving a &#39;tip&#39; in the payphone change slot; the hot couple using the booth as a location for sex; the philanderer with his mistress, and more. But not everything is as it seems.What is certain is that Chaka herself makes an appearnce in the phone booth, for what is a very enjoyable watch. It&#39;s beautfilly put together, with great widescreen cinematography by Pat Scola, wonderful editing of various story strands and performance by Thomas Grove Carter - and skilfully directed by Sam Pilling, making his first video since the brilliant DJ Shadow, Run The Jewels video for <a href="https://www.promonews.tv/videos/2016/08/25/dj-shadow-run-jewels-nobody-speak-sam-pilling/43283" target="_blank">Nobody Speak</a>.He&#39;s also added some titles to suggest the older generation are far racier than their younger counterparts. Clearly they learned their wicked ways back in the Seventies.

Following on from their Nicki Minaj's <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f7ld-3nZUxA" target="_blank">Pills N Potions</a>&nbsp;collaboration, Diane Martel &amp; Geoffrey Lillemon bring another surreal&nbsp;3D-graphics heavy&nbsp;world for the zany&nbsp;French girl singer Yelle, and creates loads of imaginative fun in the process.With a distinctly retro Windows 98 feel, the video has the band performing in a lo-fi set-up with&nbsp;familiar&nbsp;nature&nbsp;picture backgrounds, CGI grass,&nbsp;manic dancing characters - and Yelle's head also periodically&nbsp;relocated to the top of a fully-animated&nbsp;blow-up doll.All in all, it's fresh and&nbsp;totally bonkers, and a great vehicle for what sounds like a nailed-on&nbsp;international pop hit. And if Ba$$in is going to make its mark on non-Francophones, this video is going to do a lot of the work.
