Gorillaz co-creator&nbsp;Jamie Hewlett &amp; FX Goby direct a super ambitious promo for new track Silent Running, featuring&nbsp;Adeleye Omotayo.The video is a rip-roaring clash of live action and seamless CGI, and sees the other members of the band help 2-D escape an unfortunate fate.&nbsp;Building upon the narrative arc of the upcoming album - in which the group are spiralling&nbsp;towards a&nbsp;day of reckoning called The Rupture - the video is an inspired mix of Disney fantasy and cult-like horror, which sits well within the greater Gorillaz canon.&nbsp;It's a big achievement, well worth all of the attention it is getting.&nbsp;

A new Gorillaz story has started - in the emergency room in a hospital in Los Angeles, where 2D is wheeled in by the cops. He's frazzled; Noodle is there, looking fraught; as is Russel, frozen in front of a TV; and there's no frickin' sign of Murdoc. But rather a lot of guest star Thundercat.[imgtoken data:1]No doubt about it, this is a very different kettle of fish to the easy vibe of Gorillaz'&nbsp;Song Machine&nbsp;project of last year. And the drama is back. So are Gorillaz in full 3D. Creator Jamie Hewlett has flipped&nbsp;back to a more visceral version of the band - in collaboration with Fx Goby at Nexus Studios.&nbsp;[imgtoken data:2]Cracker Island is&nbsp;the start of a new concept&nbsp;- where the band, newly relocated to Silverlake, recruit new members to join The Last Cult... Those funky St. Albans lads Friendly Fires are back with the funked-up Skeleton Boy, and a new video by Clemens Habicht, who recently created some splendid <a href="http://www.nexusproductions.com/938/clinic_montage.mov">live visuals for Clinic</a>.
Those visuals capture various strange objects, usually in motion, in a kind of cool portraiture - and one of the materials Clemens used in his Clinic film plays a major part in this video: tiny polystyrene balls.
Rather bravely, the band are performing wearing black suits with only their faces visible. The balls, in a wind-machine assisted ball-storm, then give them stick-man bodies, followed by, appropriately, full skeletons. They start looking like motion-capture characters, but it's all done in-camera.
"Taking out all the excess information and concentrating on their movement through this pseudo-motion control, meant we could focus on the performance dynamic of the band, especially lead singer Ed's great dance moves," says Clemens.
