It's a visible howl of anguish and pain, but still with that unmistakeable chink of impudence and humour.

Raja Virdi explores the thin line between good and bad for the big&nbsp;team-up of Marshmello, Mae Muller and Trippie Redd.&nbsp;The video for American Psycho takes place in a series of stylish custom-built sets, with a red and white colour scheme which represents the dichotomy of a toxic relationship.&nbsp;Muller and Redd thrive in their unique setups, and Virdi's use of dynamic transitions, animated elements and rhythmic editing keeps the video constantly engaging.[imgtoken data:1]"It was such a pleasure to direct this promo," says Virdi. "I'd been wanting to do a concept like this for a while and glad it fit the song so well. I love the themes of duality, and seeing the difference performance states of Mae between the red toxic sets and the white angelic sets."I really wanted to move the camera seamlessly between the spaces, keeping the visual constantly engaging with how we reveal new moments."Collaborating with my regular DOP Pieter Snyman and the insanely talented production designer Sarah Asmail&nbsp;ensured we found the rhythm for the piece and how best to give each space a unique feel for each artist on the song.[imgtoken data:2]"The turnaround was immense for this one with needing to shoot and deliver all within a week. Raja Virdi directs a signature&nbsp;one-shot video for an unexpected collaboration between Sigrid and Bring Me The Horizon's Oli Sykes&nbsp;on Bad Life.&nbsp;Bringing both a sense of scale and simplicity to what is quite an intimate idea, Virdi uses a stripped-back set as an environment for the two artists to inhabit and make their own.&nbsp;The cinematic visual is packed full of gripping moments and emotional performances, which take viewers on an engrossing journey.[imgtoken data:1]<blockquote>I tried to treat the music video as a gig&nbsp;in a way, moving up and down the stage.</blockquote>Sigrid has commented that&nbsp;her and Sykes wanted the video to be simple enough to&nbsp;emphasise the song's lyrics. "It’s a song that I hope can offer some comfort for anyone who’s having a rough day, knowing that it will pass," she explains. "We collaborated with Raja, and we ended on this dark, slightly surreal world of Oli and I on each side of a worn-down house, not knowing what the other one is going through on the other side."Oli’s such a natural performer, so I knew he’d be great anyways. I tried to treat the music video as a gig, in a way, moving up and down the stage.”Virdi says that the concept of the one-shot film was to lean into those themes, of getting through the 'bad life' to reach the other side.&nbsp;[imgtoken data:2]<blockquote>Life can feel like a rollercoaster sometimes. "They are both extraordinarily talented performers and were absolute troopers through a long shoot day.&nbsp;The crew were fantastic and took what was a very challenging one-shot, head on. Huge props to the crane, SFX and lighting teams for working in synergy so well with all the cues and my backbone 1st AD Chris Malin making it all run smooth. Crowns &amp; Owls direct a poetic and symbolic&nbsp;one-shot promo for Palestinian-Canadian singer-songwriter Nemah Hasan - aka&nbsp;Nemahsis.&nbsp;The concept reveals itself through a gradual&nbsp;tracking shot, opening with the artist in near freeze-frame, barely mumbling the song's lyrics,&nbsp;before she breaks out of her pose and starts to realise she is part of the window display of a New York department store, and trapped behind the glass.[imgtoken data:1]The video follows Nemahsis's emergence on TikTok as a singular voice as a hijab-wearing modern woman, and her second single Dollar Signs expresses the pain of being exploited. Directing team Crown &amp; Owls'&nbsp;evocative video explores those themes of self-worth and societal pressure, and the distinctive, painterly aesthetic elevates the visual to a transcendent, poignant space.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;"Numerous times, I&nbsp;have found myself being taken advantage of - often in ways unimaginable," explains the Palestinian-Canadian&nbsp;in the video description. Directing trio Crowns &amp; Owls transport Octavian to a surreal wonderland in the hypnotic visual for Poison, negotiating a world between love, lust... and something much darker.&nbsp;Utilising four cameras - including the FLIR thermal camera - the visual is a tapestry of experimental setups, each shot in a stylised, hyper-exaggerated way. Turning traditional rap videos on their head, performance is still very much the focus of the video, yet Kaname Onoyama's mind-bending cinematography adds a standout unique flair and polish.&nbsp;CROWNS &amp; OWLS:“It was rad to build a world around this tune, and to have had the trust from Octavian to try something we’re not really seeing in UK rap videos. There’s some really nice themes going on in the song, but we focused on playing with the central idea of lust and imagining that as a poisonous substance."Using a custom rig we were able to use a dual camera system; one capturing reality whilst the other was simultaneously capturing a thermal version of the same shot. This allowed us to seamlessly slip between two worlds as we’re following the artists through a fever dream."The video was shot just before the UK Covid-19 lockdown, with post happening remotely during quarantine. Henry Scholfield is back with Dua Lipa. Following on from his monumental UKMVA-winning videos for New Rules&nbsp;and IDGAF,&nbsp;Scholfield has created another visual feast for Break My Heart - taken from her just-released second album Future Nostalgia -&nbsp;utilising clever camera trickery,&nbsp;great choreography and perfectly stylised production design to create this epic&nbsp;emotional narrative.We follow Dua on her journey as scenarios materialise and&nbsp;amplify the emotional state, illustrated here through fast-paced transitions and&nbsp;setups, mirroring the heartfelt lyrics.&nbsp;The video which was shot in Bulgaria uses a colour palette of early Almodóvar mashed up with mid 90s styling via the iridescent surreal-scapes of Japanese love hotels. Production had their work cut out with VFX, choreography, wire work, stunts - and a tilting set. The sets were built across three stages, and beautifully realised by production designer Mark Connell.Scholfield explains: “I wanted to create something that felt like that tumble dryer of emotions when falling for someone who’s pulling away from you. Dua’s perfomance was brilliant (as always!) taking us on her journey from vulnerable to empowered, via her playful cheeky-charming self.”And the video, single and the album release were all brought forward,&nbsp;despite the Coronavirus pandemic, on Dua Lipa's command. She states: “I hope it brings you some happiness, and I hope it makes you smile, and I hope it makes you dance."&nbsp;

New director Chirolles Khalil directs a semi-autobiographical promo for Enter The Jungle,&nbsp;which revisits Tokio's youth and his struggle to choose&nbsp;between his passion for music and social expectations.&nbsp;Nestled in a small room within a tower block, Tokio has his head down as he repeatedly runs through chords on his keyboard. We see the young artist dip his feet into the quintessential aspects of teenage life - hanging with friends in the park, having a first puff of a cigarette, playing sports - but nothing compares to the high he gets from being in his room, making music and exploring the depths of his artistry.&nbsp;With a high-energy performance from Myers and Akala, the patchwork of different moments in the artist's life mirror the structure of the track, at times sounding like a full-on James Bond theme, and conversely like low-key bedroom rap. The sum of the different parts blend brilliantly to form a unique project with a fresh perspective."We wanted to show that we were not always a product of our environment but are who we choose to be", explains Khalil.&nbsp;The sheer ambition and scale of the video marks him out as a talent to watch out for.&nbsp;
