J.A.C.K have made a very enigmatic video for MØ&#39;s&nbsp;When I Was Young. In so doing, the French directing duo have captured&nbsp;the Danish popster&#39;s&nbsp;distinctive charisma in a way not previously achieved in her videos.In a deserted village, a solitary MØ is joined by two other versions of herself, one in white the other in black&nbsp;- the latter accompanied by a group of skeleton-clad ghouls. With a combination of artful choreography and visual effects, the original&nbsp;MØ allies with one of her duplicates to battle the other, and her ghouls.&nbsp;MØ has revealed that the inspiration for the video came from Edvard Munch, the Norwegian artist best known for The Scream.&nbsp;&ldquo;I&rsquo;m so happy to present this video because it feels very true to the song and to who I am,&rdquo; she says. &quot;It was inspired by a painting called The Dance Of Life [by Munch]...&nbsp;It&rsquo;s an illustration of three women &ndash; one in white, one in red and one in black &ndash; and tells a story about three stages of human life: youth, maturity, and old age.&quot;I was always drawn to this image as a kid due to its simple symbolism and emotion and have been dying to do a video that could reflect on it. Since When I Was Young is all about nostalgia and reflecting on life &ndash;especially the past, but also the now and the future &ndash; it just seemed like the perfect time to do it. J.A.C.K came up with the idea of me playing all three women at the same time, dancing the dance of life, seduced, intrigued and fooled by each other, and they took this whole idea to levels I couldn&rsquo;t even have dreamed of.&rdquo;[imgtoken data:1]&ldquo;With this video we wanted to speak about youth, and picture metaphorically how a girl becomes a woman,&rdquo; say Camille &amp; Julien from J.A.C.K, &ldquo;Karen [MØ] is such a talented artist, it has been a pleasure to develop this concept together with her: an everlasting circle of life choreography, with life and death dancing hand in hand.&rdquo;

After the emotional and erotically-charged video for Like A Woman, directing duo JACK have created another audacious and controversial&nbsp;piece in their second collaboration with&nbsp;Kacy Hill.For Hard To Love, the singer submits herself to a &#39;graphic performance&#39; by artist Christophe Brunnquell, who proceeds to write the song&#39;s lyrics on Hill&#39;s body - beginning with the word Trust on both her eyelids.What is striking is the full commitment to the idea, which in effect puts Hill in her interlocutor&#39;s control - nearly naked, strapped and suspended as he uses her as a canvas, with no half-measures. All this is captured with characteristic intimacy by Steve Annis&#39;s camerawork.But curiously it appears to be the second big pop video in recent weeks that is contestably influenced by the work of <a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0114134/" target="_blank">British arthouse director Peter Greenaway</a>. Just don&#39;t call it a lyric video.&nbsp;

Kacy Hill makes a big impression in her first big&nbsp;music video, with an exhibition of frank and robust sexuality,&nbsp;presented by&nbsp;directing duo JACK for Like A Woman.From the stylised rendition of her sexual awakening on the backseat of a bus, we dive headlong into Hill&#39;s fantasy, focussing on her body in fetishwear, glistening like a prizefighter under lights. There are references to American Beauty, and Botticelli&#39;s Birth Of Venus with bold portrait-like imagery that works well in showcasing Hill&#39;s impressive vocal talents.&ldquo;Like A Woman is an exploration of my own femininity and sexuality,&quot; says the singer. &quot;I want my audience to have a similar experience of their own while listening. My goal is not to make a statement, but make space for exploration without shame or guilt. I don&rsquo;t speak for all women. I speak for Kacy Hill.&rdquo;

The video for Club Cheval&#39;s Discipline by Camille Hirigoyen and Julien Choquart &ndash;&nbsp;aka&nbsp;J.A.C.K. &ndash;&nbsp;brings us&nbsp;an huge&nbsp;house party turned into a massive game of musical chairs -&nbsp;a great&nbsp;idea, and a great execution.&nbsp; &nbsp; Filmed over two evenings, the video features forty&nbsp;young people - sourced on the street or via social media -&nbsp;having a party&nbsp;while the group performs live. The guys from Club Cheval lead the game, starting and stopping the music and heightening the pressure. &nbsp; The video includes long sequence shots filmed with a steadicam, interspersed with rapid movements, and subjective views filmed live on Hi8 with a camcorder during the shoot, by one of the actors.&ldquo;We wanted to create an atmosphere where you are at the heart of the party, really believe in it and want to be there,&rdquo; explain J.A.C.K.&nbsp;&ldquo;We had a very clear idea of the shots. We just had to get the party going to get them, create accidents and breaks to surprise the young people and show the excitement palpable on the set.&rdquo;&nbsp;Just goes to show that the old games are the best.

And&nbsp;we spoke&nbsp;to Camille and Julien to get an insight into what its like working with the Queen of Pop herself...PROMO: When did Madonna approach you to script on the video - and did it come as a surprise?J.A.C.K.: We were shooting in Prague when we received a phone call from Guy Oseary, Madonna&rsquo;s manager.&nbsp;It was so insane that for a quarter of second we thought it was a joke.What was the brief, and what in your idea for the video appealed to Madonna?&nbsp;There was no brief. One month after the phone call from Guy, we were convened to a meeting in&nbsp;Paris where we had the opportunity to listen to the track for a whole hour in order to come up with&nbsp;ideas and a concept. Then we left the place without the music. We had only a few days to reflect on&nbsp;the project and sketch it, the schedule was really tight.What Madonna liked about it was the pureness of the idea: build up an emblematic character from&nbsp;scratch, the matador, and then create a choreographic play both sensuous and violent.<blockquote>&quot;Madonna needs to understand. She is a&nbsp;huge professional who knows perfectly the techniques to make a film. It was really impressive!&quot;</blockquote>[imgtoken data:1]Who were your other key collaborators for the video?The dream team was composed of: DOP Philippe Lesourd, stylist B. Akerlund, choreographer&nbsp;Megan Lawson, editor Danny Tull.What were the big problems and limitations you faced in bringing the idea to life - and how&nbsp;did you overcome them?Time was the major issue. We had a very complex choreography that was still in progress: 20&nbsp;dancers, harnesses, very physical moves for Madonna&hellip; and only four days to rehearse the whole thing.&nbsp;We really worked very closely with Megan, the choreographer &ndash; who is the most amazingly energetic&nbsp;and optimistic person that we have ever met - thence things worked out just fine.What was it like working with the Queen of Pop herself?Before going to NY, we had a long conversation on the phone with her where we detailed our vision.&nbsp;That&rsquo;s what sealed our relationship for the entire process.&nbsp;Madonna needs to understand. She is a&nbsp;huge professional who knows perfectly the techniques to make a film. It was really impressive!Even&nbsp;if she is surrounded by a big staff, communication between us has always been smooth,&nbsp;straightforward, without any intermediary.&nbsp;On set, mistake was not an option; each take had to be&nbsp;the one.

Last April, directing duo J.A.C.K.&#39;s video for Christine and the Queens&#39; Saint Claude was all about Christine&#39;s brilliant, FX-enhanced dance performance on a plinth in an all-red studio.And now comes the sequel, with Christine and&nbsp;J.A.C.K repeating the pure dance-themed approach and staging&nbsp;for the eponymous &#39;Christine&#39; -&nbsp;with added dancers and a&nbsp;different colour scheme.And once again, there&#39;s fantastic energy, passion and skill in the performances, captured with&nbsp;seamlessly fluid camerawork by DoP Dylan Doyle.

The French directing duo J.A.C.K. travelled to the mountains of Vercors to make their impressively haunting&nbsp;video for Champs&#39; St. Peters,&nbsp;about a man on the run, who cheats death, but not himself.It starts with a deserter (played by Damien Bonnard) who gets lost in the forest, and dying with exhaustion - only to duplicate into a living body, to continue his journey. It turns out he has at least nine lives - but this way leads to madness...It&#39;s a compelling story told in an epic landscape - and photographed by award-winning DoP Mathieu Plainfosse. It&#39;s also well suited to the haunting folk-rock of the Isle of Wight band of brothers Champs, whose debut album Down Like Gold is out on PIAS Recordings.

Directing duo JACK (aka former Weiden + Kennedy creatives Julien Choquart and Camille Hirigoyes) recently signed to Passion RAW in the wake of work for Nike and Vogue, have submitted this sexy and very charming promo for French act Lafayette. 
The lyrics tell the story of a straight-laced guy's confession to the delicious pleasure of wearing his girlfriends underwear. But JACK shied away from a literal approach, shooting Lafayette and some lingerie wearing lovelies in a beautiful apartment in Paris. 
"The owner is the mother of one of our best friends - she used to work in the fashion industry and has very clever tastes," Julien and Camille told Shots. "We loved the 'boudoir' look of the apartment as it's not typically Parisian, but a clever interpretation of many influences. The first time we went in, we instantly saw frames of where to put Lafayette and his girls. At the very first sight, the movie was almost there. 
"The multiple cuts are totally assumed and an absolute perverse choice. We wanted to create frustration for the viewers".
