Barnstorming indie band Wet Leg are reimagined as bath-loving aliens beamed down from outer space, in Fred Rowson's loveably&nbsp;eccentric promo for Too Late Now.&nbsp;Wrapped in bath towels, the band venture out into Croydon to experience the Earthly delight of a good hot soak for the very first time, reflecting the lyrics, “I just need a bubble bath to set me on a higher path”.During their pursuit they encounter the addictions of bubble bath and the relaxing qualities of cucumbers - which involves a certain amount of suggestiveness, in the already characteristic Wet Leg style&nbsp;-&nbsp;eventually finding true nirvana in the form of a very pink hot tub, drawing a conclusion to the space-invaders’ pilgrimage.Filmed across two days in South-East London and on a rather muddy Kentish farm, DoP Rik Burnell worked closely with Rowson to achieve the ‘fly on the wall’ aesthetic, shot on a very very long lens with minimal lighting.[imgtoken data:1]<blockquote>I was slightly stunned to shoot the first Wet Leg video that they didn’t direct themselves.</blockquote>"Wet Leg may be the coolest band of the year, but, surprisingly, they are also 2021’s year’s most innocent gang of outsiders," comments Rowson. "Tasked with documenting their first experience of exploring an urban centre outside of Ryde [on the Isle of Wight] I was shocked by their naivety, and nearly lost them on numerous occasions, not least when Rhian nearly went under a bus. Twice."Thankfully, no indie kids were harmed in the making of this movie, and the quintet instinctively found their way to the safety of a rural setting. Thank God. "Seriously though. I was slightly stunned when Hester and Rhian asked me to shoot the first Wet Leg video that they didn’t direct themselves. Pressure, considering that their previous two were, for me, the best of the year. Will Hooper kicks off the New Year with an impeccable promo&nbsp;for Rag’n’Bone Man’s&nbsp;All You Ever Wanted.&nbsp;Visualising the song’s social commentary on overpopulation and gentrification, Hooper presents the idyll of a pristine model village, bringing his trademark charm and wit to the table.&nbsp; As the track progresses however, the layers are peeled back to reveal the reality hidden beneath: an unhinged dystopia playing&nbsp;out in live action.Every detail in the video had to be meticulously planned out through a series of animatics and storyboards. This took place weeks prior to shooting, in order for the model village set build - led by Jennifer Kidd - to work with the matchframe scenes in the live action.This attention to detail has paid off - the video is a stunning and unexpected take on very important themes, with an unforgettable aesthetic and visual style, which perfectly complements Hooper's recent steps into the bizarre and uncanny.&nbsp;[imgtoken data:1]

Basak Erol pulls out all the stops for Nothing But Thieves' Real Love Song, creating an epic fantasy around the heartache and turmoil that surrounds love and sex in the modern world.The live action story of a love triangle is given a dreamlike hue&nbsp;in lurid neon, intercut with the band's equally dreamlike studio performance. Then the imaginations and frustrations of the protagonists are given free rein as they become animated versions of themselves in an&nbsp;alternate dimension.Erol utlised her own skills as a 3D animator, and also collaborated on the 2D animation with hugely talented illustrator and animator Raman Djafari. The end result is a&nbsp;breathless whirlwind to match the band's latest emotional piledriver.&nbsp;

Jordan Rossi directs a psychedelic journey through cyberspace for Rika's Left To Love.&nbsp;Shot&nbsp;entirely in quarantine conditions, the Alice in Wonderland-style&nbsp;concept was shot entirely on iPhone, and is a whirlwind of contemporary nostalgia.&nbsp;This was a shoot originally planned before the crisis, but Rossi and team adapted admirably to make it work by directing remotely.JORDAN ROSSI:<blockquote>While a lot of videos have embraced the homemade DIY aesthetic I wanted to look the other way</blockquote>“I pitched on the track before coronavirus hit but it became evident very quickly that this would have to be a remote shoot.&nbsp;I’ve always been obsessed with the digital landscape of the 21st Century and feel the World Wide Web is a bit of a rabbit hole."I wanted to bring that concept to this amazing track which is really about looking for love- something we all do online and through our digital profiles. It’s why we peppered in different text and Internet specific phrases throughout the video.“I knew that heading into the lockdown there would still be a need for content but we’d have to adjust our approach. Declan Mckenna performs in a fluffy cloud like world that descends into glitchy chaos in Will Hooper's video for Beautiful Faces.&nbsp;Opening with a studio setup of Declan and his band, the utopian visuals are crammed full of colour and anachronistic styling. Within moments, the video is glitching with odd frames spliced between shots, the dreamy aesthetic slowly corrupting and morphing into something unusual.&nbsp;Utilising AR technology, the visuals become more and more CGI-driven,&nbsp;the artist's likeness bending, transforming and flying through the sky. Reminiscent of a fatal computer error in&nbsp;The Sims,&nbsp;the characters melt into the walls, duplicate and bend their limbs into unhuman form.This balance of live action and visual effects is an interesting&nbsp;departure for Will Hooper - who's last&nbsp;released video is a <a href="https://www.promonews.tv/videos/2019/10/16/slaves-one-more-day-wont-hurt-will-hooper/61400" target="_blank">furiously intense&nbsp;video for Slaves</a>&nbsp;-&nbsp;topped off with a confident and assured performance from McKenna.&nbsp;

Ninian Doff is back with his first music video since 2016, and it&#39;s a reunion with The Chemical Brothers to tell a wonderful shaggy dog&#39;s story, all about a super-talented pooch, trained to take on man&#39;s biggest challenges.Rescued from the streets by a young female scientist (Tegen Short), our canine hero/heroine is fast-tracked into a secret programme that leads&nbsp;to the cockpit of a F1 car speeding around a test circuit - and then behind the controls of a space rocket.It&#39;s classic Doff - outlandish, charming, beautifully executed, and a very apt visual to The Chems&#39; track We&#39;ve Got To Try, the latest release from their forthcoming album, No Geography.It&#39;s also the second time Doff has collaborated with the iconic dance outfit, following <a href="https://www.promonews.tv/videos/2015/08/18/chemical-brothers-%E2%80%98sometimes-i-feel-so-deserted%E2%80%99-ninian-doff/36165" target="_blank">Sometimes I Feel Deserted</a>. And just a huge pleasure to have Ninian Doff - whos first feature Boyz In The Wood (starring Eddie Izzard)&nbsp;will be released later this year - back in the world of music videos, at least for a while.

The Rolling Stones make a triumphant return to the world of music video with the help of Francois Rousselet&nbsp;in the&nbsp;high-octane Ride &#39;Em On Down.Starring Kristen Stewart as a lone driver on the beautiful, golden, yet eerily deserted streets of LA, she joyrides a Ford Mustang through a world that seems idyllic at first, until it presents us with bizarre hints that all is not as it seems. Is Stewart joyriding through a post-apocalyptic wasteland? Well that&#39;s up to you to figure out.The whole video was shot on 35mm by Newton Thomas Sigel, ASC. Famed for his work on films like Drive,&nbsp;which certainly came in useful here - creating a golden cinematic landscape with bursts of contrasting blue tearing through the scenery.
