Ama Lou self-directs the&nbsp;promo for Same Old Ways, where contrary to the title of the song, tradition gets a welcome makeover.&nbsp;In the video - made in collaboration with The North Face -&nbsp;we follow the induction of two inner city kids (Ama&nbsp;and her friend) on their first day of boarding school. At the start, the viewer is set up to anticipate the worst for the pupils as they enter a daunting environment. But instead, they are welcomed with open arms, having a great time taking&nbsp;part in some classic old English boarding school activities.&nbsp;Excitable and celebratory,&nbsp;the video - shot by Ama's sister Mahalia John - is full of feelgood vibes, and the breathtaking setting is an excellent location for the camaraderie to ensue.&nbsp;

Ama Lou self-directs a charismatic performance promo for her track Trust Nobody.&nbsp;In contrast to her previous videos - which were shot in Los Angeles - this one was filmed in London, and features the artist in a white cyc photo studio,&nbsp;filling the space with a confident yet vulnerable energy.&nbsp;Though simple in its presentation, the concept is a perfect vehicle for Lou's performance style, and takes inspiration from portraiture and fashion photography in its minimalist aesthetic.&nbsp;&nbsp;

John Maybury, one of the UK's most venerated music video directors, returns to the medium for the first time in years for the iconic Marianne Faithfull.&nbsp;Maybury, best known for directing the video for Sinead O'Connor's Nothing Compares 2 U, before making films including Love Is the Devil: Study for a Portrait of Francis Bacon, has created a dreamlike piece for Faithfull's The Gypsy Faerie Queen, co-penned and featuring Nick Cave. Like the song, it's inspired by A Midsummer Night's Dream, with ethereal&nbsp;Super 8mm-shot footage of the Fairy Queen, alternating with close-up footage of a glowingly radiant Faithfull.“It’s a little miracle,”&nbsp;says Marianne Faithfull of the song,&nbsp;the first single from her just-released album&nbsp;Negative Capability - the 21st in a recording career spanning 54 years.&nbsp;“I think it’s one of the loveliest songs we’ve ever written together. It was so great working with Nick again.” And she adds that she and John Maybury discovered they had a connection through a mutual collaborator in filmmaker&nbsp;Derek Jarman."John Maybury told me that the person who really got him into movies was Derek Jarman. Derek even bought him his first camera. Derek Jarman was the person who made the music video for Broken English, which I absolutely love.&nbsp;It was the beginning of MTV, the time when it was all chicks with big tits and long legs and sexy clothes, that’s all that people were interested in. And at the time, nobody really liked our film. It took a long time for people to get it, and it has become sort of a cult artwork now. It’s incredible the way things go in circles. I love that.”

Waking up lost and bemused in a strange place is probably not many people&rsquo;s ideal situation. The man in Mike Lee Thomas&rsquo; video for Fossil Collective seems suitably confused by the ordeal &ndash; especially when he can&rsquo;t quite place where he is. Beginning with some ambiguous under-sea footage, our man awakes in a forest and just when he can&rsquo;t take it anymore, his chilly prison is replaced with another location, provoking a different reaction&hellip;
Director Mike has used some great locations and managed to shoot the promo in one day in minus 4 degrees Celsius in the north of England. Producer James Baxter sheds some light on the intriguing narrative: &ldquo;The missteps and mistakes made in life come back to haunt our exhausted male as the classic story of realising what you had once is now gone plays out here. Combined with the paranoia of finding himself in an unexpected awakening, we follow a confused and desperate man as he slowly comes to terms with his situation before trying to regain some kind of control; despite the outcome not being his ideal scenario.&rdquo;
