George Moir is the ice cream van man with his own weird, wonderful range of ice lollies, in George McCallum's video for Patio - arguably the staycation anthem of the summer.The&nbsp;West Country-based singer-songwriter's sweet,&nbsp;catchy song will ring true with nearly everyone this year - it's all about not being able to go on a foreign holiday, and having to make the best of it at&nbsp;home. Instead, its about working (mostly), and saving&nbsp;up 'to go next summer'.[imgtoken data:1]First-time director McCallum visualises this idea with inventiveness that owes something to his day job&nbsp;as an ad agency creative, and also to his&nbsp;'side-hustle' -&nbsp;as a baker of cakes disguised as very unlikely things - like a cigarette-filled ashtray.So Moir is not just a regular ice cream van guy, toiling through an English summer of variable weather - but also selling eccentric&nbsp;ices at odd prices, that are&nbsp;advertised on the side of the&nbsp;van, as you might expect, but&nbsp;which also come alive as animated characters throughout the video.&nbsp;And then, some are&nbsp;real - like a baked bean ice lolly, or one made out of loose change, or a diamond-studded ice cream.[imgtoken data:2]George Moir himself has a background as an animator, and this is his first video he has not directed himself. But McCallum has impressively built upon&nbsp;those previous DIY efforts, and allowed the singer's unassuming character to shine. And the attention to detail with the product range&nbsp;- designed by McCallum, animated by Jack Bailey - are&nbsp;the sprinkles and chocolate sauce on the 99.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Ry X returns with a beautiful new video for Bad Love&nbsp;directed by Irrum, shot in the rainforest in central&nbsp;Mexico, which is as alluring and tranquil as a Gaughin painting.The video was shot in Xilitla, which is known for the Las Pozas garden created by English artist Edward James, featuring huge surrealist sculptures next to pools and waterfalls. Irrum has created maximum atmosphere from this spectacularl place, creating painterly tableaux featuring Ry X and a group of demure beauties.Beautifully photographed by&nbsp;Andres Arochi,&nbsp;Mexico, this poetic imagery reflects the heartfelt nature of the lyrics and timbres of the music to hypnotic effect.

Thomas Rhazi&#39;s video for Alt-J&#39;s Pusher takes its inspiration from a great British democratic tradition of soapbox politics, and sends it into a dark,&nbsp;bleak place.As the camera circles an expanse of open ground a man climbs onto a box to begin to speak to the assembled smattering of homogeneous raincoat-wearing men. And as the circle tightens, the man becomes more passionate, and then desperate...As with previous videos from Alt-J&#39;s second album This Is All Yours, band frontman Joe Newman was involved at the conceptual stage of the Pusher video. And his&nbsp;involvement which has allowed Thomas Rhazi to reach for his powerful, thought-provoking,&nbsp;unquestionably bleak climax.&ldquo;The original idea was Joe&#39;s one,&quot; says Thomas. &quot;It was about a guy breaking his neck in a very poetic way. We spoke about the British Speaker&rsquo;s Corners&nbsp;&ndash;&nbsp;all those men and women in the late 70&rsquo;s preaching for their own reasons and beliefs.&quot;I wanted this film to be very humanist and as deep and simple as it could be.&nbsp;The hero does the most excessive act because he can&rsquo;t do anything else&nbsp;&ndash;&nbsp;shaking up people&rsquo;s minds in those dark and sad times&rdquo;, says Thomas.[imgtoken data:1][imgtoken data:2]

Olivier Groulx&#39;s video for Alt-J&#39;s Every Other Freckle presents an interesting departure, and also a deft solution to any possible accusations of unfair sexual objectification. He&#39;s made two versions of essentially the same video - one with a sexy girl, the other with a sexy boy.And as both male&nbsp;and female (Nathan Whitfield and Eliza Murray)&nbsp;are shot in exactly the same way,&nbsp;they are both very much equally gorgeous. There&#39;s something of the scientific experiment about this approach - will be interesting to see how the views of each version stack up (at the time of writing, Girl has nearly twice as many as Boy).&nbsp;Beyond the gender&nbsp;dynamic,&nbsp;Olivier has created some other lovely photographic set-ups (and including some stock footage)&nbsp;with excellent work by DoP Tim Sidell.&nbsp;

The second Drenge video by&nbsp;Never Ending Fun sees them continue the deadpan counterintuitive approach they applied to the first one for <a href="http://www.promonews.tv/videos/2013/11/15/drenge-nothing-never-ending-fun" target="_blank">Nothing</a>. In this case Drenge&#39;s Loveless brothers play the laidback grunge-rock of Fuckabout in a scenario&nbsp;of British&nbsp;suburban chintz.&nbsp;Never Ending Fun are&nbsp;that&#39;s Stephen Agnew and Jack Wilkinson who, originally collaborating as a director and DOP, now they team up to work on projects from conception to fruition to create aesthetically-distinct and conceptually-engaging films- and have just joined the roster at Agile Films.&nbsp;Never Ending Fun will be represented by OB management.&nbsp;

In the video for These New Puritans&#39; V (Island Song), directed by animation team PICNIC, a group of islands is revealed to be a girl lying in a bath, who then emerges to go&nbsp;to a&nbsp;cinema, to be immediately lured into the screen by the hand of a beast, and then finds herself falling into a wheel of knives to be&nbsp;sliced into little pieces to become hors d&#39;oevres for party guests...Nice. This darkly surreal tale (which is also the second video this year to feature a wrecking ball) was&nbsp;scripted by TNP&#39;s frontman Jack Barnett &ndash;&nbsp;who also provided sketches and quotes - and then&nbsp;brought to life by PICNIC, who used a combination of 2D and 3D to create over seven minutes of&nbsp;animation in just over a month. A great achievement, and a weird and wonderful end result.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Daniel Askill does a fine job of visualising the orchestral experimentalism of These New Puritans in this panoramic, parallax-viewed journey for Fragment Two. &nbsp;Made in conjunction with The Creators Project, it&#39;s a shadowy, gothic affair in which the viewer pans slowly across a wonderfully envisioned part-romantic, part-apocalyptic landscape thanks to excellent work by Daniel and the post-production team at MPC.
