Greg Barnes directs an ambitious one-take video for EELS, featuring&nbsp;Mad Men and Baby Driver&nbsp;star Jon Hamm.&nbsp;Playing a superfan of the group, Hamm is shown finding solace in the track&nbsp;as he relaxes on the sofa, totally oblivious to the chaos unfolding around him.&nbsp;It's a great little concept, shot in Los Angeles on 35mm whilst Greg and the Black Dog team directed and produced it remotely from London.&nbsp;Hamm's understated, relaxed performance is a perfect fit for the concept, and will have viewers shouting at the screen with&nbsp;the old pantomime adage... he's behind you!!

Arlo Parks shares her cover of Radiohead's Creep, directed by Tom Dream&nbsp;as part of his upcoming short film&nbsp;Shy Radicals.&nbsp;The music video itself has&nbsp;an understated, meditative atmosphere, focused purely on the performance of the track. DoP&nbsp;Jack Maddison takes advantage of the plentiful natural light and abundant space in the room, choosing to move the camera in a slow and deliberate manner, to let the concept&nbsp;unfold organically.The short film, made with the support of the BFI Doc Society and Black Dog Films, is a portrait of Hamja Ahsan and the story behind his remarkable book and satirical manifesto Shy Radicals, which calls for all shy, quiet, and introverted people to unify and overthrow 'extrovert-supremacy'.&nbsp; &nbsp; Arlo's performance is an effort to continue standing in solidarity with others facing challenges with introversion. "Creep is a simultaneously delicate and brutal exploration of inner turmoil and human relationships," she says. "This song has acted as a refuge for me, during times of self-reflection and low mood, for many years and Radiohead as a band has deeply influenced my music."

And in his first solo clip since 2017’s totemic <a href="https://www.promonews.tv/videos/2017/03/24/michael-kiwanuka-cold-little-heart-david-m-helman/46983">Cold Little Heart</a>, Kiwanuka celebrates that lesson. He communes with a group of revellers in the fields and halls of English farmland.Irish director Leonn Ward makes a compelling case for herself as music videos’ premier Romantic. She has a painter’s eye for colour and beauty, and the ability to draw intensely felt performances out of her collaborators: I challenge you not to be moved by Joy Crooke’s tearful lament in <a href="https://www.promonews.tv/videos/2019/04/01/joy-crookes-i-left-you-demo-leonn-ward/58034">Since I Left You</a>.&nbsp;Her style is a lush minimalism. She and Deepa Keshvala, DoP and regular collaborator, render these pastoral settings with a theatrical simplicity that foregrounds the joy of her characters. These landscapes are depicted as a gorgeous playground. You’ll see just wheat and sky, a curtain or a wall, and an effervescent gang of people.Ward also shows off her credentials as a fashion photographer.&nbsp;The styling by Ola Ebiti, a kind of contempory, light-touch&nbsp;Pre-Raphaelitism, is essential to this balance: her&nbsp;subjects are dressed in vibrant primaries, and as they move, they pass through the frame like running washes of colour. For this, we can also thank Jack Mcginity, the award-winning colourist behind ASOS's toybox-toned <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KCi7y4U4eO8">Go Play</a> campaign.

Jade Jackman has directed an intimate and poignant video for Mabel's OK.Shot in black and white, the video focuses on a selection of diverse cast, all of whom are underrepresented in the industry, and who have taken their own feelings of anxiety and discouragement and flipped them into positive, empowering messages. The lack of colour pulls more attention to the portraits of each person, and they each slowly break&nbsp;out into movement, to represent the transition to feeling more comfortable and confident in themselves.&nbsp;Shooting each person on their own in the space expresses the feeling of isolation that anxiety can induce, and the fact that Mabel shares the exact same setup with the other characters represents the fact that this is universal, no matter who you are. "It's okay not to be okay, as long as you know everything's gonna be okay".&nbsp;A simple concept to match the track’s message of empowerment and strength, the black and white video features intimate close ups of Mabel singing to camera, alongside a cast including Dazed and Confused Beauty LGBTQ+ editor Munroe Bergdorf and Kat Hawkins.

So Barnes has made that film -&nbsp;shot on 35mm - and it&#39;s terrific.&ldquo;2019 is all about making movies&hellip; Bruce Lee was a huge inspiration growing up because he was the first Chinese guy on the big screen,&rdquo; states Henry Wu aka Kamaal Williams, currently on tour in the USA. &ldquo;I feel like music and martial arts have the same flow of energy and are respective art forms. Finally satisfied and fleetingly happy, he then realises he&#39;s back where he started, reflecting the infinite cycle of the universe.

The second half of The Architect, Thomas James&#39; two-part sequence of videos for Paloma Faith, continues the story where it left off at the end of Crybaby: one boy cannot stand the oppressive regime of an institution that is &#39;creating&#39; the future leaders of a cruel totalitarian state. He flees and the supportive Paloma races after him.That sets off a chain of events explored in Guilty, where the cruel rulers of the Darwinian school that punishes any weakness or sensitivity in its students are faced with a revolt, and their demise.But if that is predictable, what happens after that is not. In a way, James ramps up the cruelty further, as the true Architect is revealed. But he also manages to maintain the sense of a pop video even as the narrative gets ever darker.

Paloma Faith returns with the first video from her new album The Architect, and the first&nbsp;of a two part collaboration with UKMVA-nominated Thomas James.For Crybaby, we&#39;re thrust into a brutal future society&nbsp;where young boys are drilled and bullied into their expected roles of hard, emotionless domination. A bit like going to an English public school. Paloma&nbsp;is one of the submissive maidens&nbsp;at the institution who develops a protective instinct for one of the more vulnerable boys.Paloma has commented: &ldquo;The lyrics are a conversation between a man and I, and the song questions whether global conflicts would cease to exist if men successfully dealt with their feelings.&nbsp;Would things be resolved without attack and with measured discussion?&rdquo;Thomas James has interpreted the lyrics in&nbsp;his distinctive dark narrative style, and having built the&nbsp;scenario with a series of harrowing scenes - intercut with Paloma&#39;s performance - he ends it on a cliffhanger. Everyone who watches this will want to watch part two.
