Amun conspires against the eye candy on her arm in&nbsp;Margot Bowman's&nbsp;video for Talk To Me Nice.&nbsp;Amun and her date arrive at a front door for a dinner party,&nbsp;ring the doorbell and wait patiently. So far, so normal.. But once inside, the atmosphere become hazy and hallucinogenic, a group of women with their eyes locked on the solo male. When it's time for dinner, there is a no sign of him, and Amun just so happens to cough up a men's style ring.&nbsp;Dark and sultry, the video is packed full of&nbsp;iconography, leaning&nbsp;towards the occult with the styling and props. DoP Beatriz Sastre utilises red lighting and blur effects to heighten the tension and mood of the&nbsp;setups, creating an out-of-body style experience as the camera stalks around the house. Amun's performance is confident and assured, and she jumps into the macabre role with zest.&nbsp;

Bibi Zhou, a huge star in China in the Mandarin-language Mandopop genre, is transformed into an interdimensional puppetmaster, controlling the lives of characters in her orbit, in the gorgeous video directed by Jonathan Desbiens -&nbsp;aka Jodeb -&nbsp;for her new track&nbsp;Luna.&nbsp;Shot in Montreal and Iceland, with a cast of dancers situated in a remarkable selection of locations -&nbsp;brooding glaciers, basalt column caves, black sand beaches and moonlit lagoons - Jodeb has created a delightful, otherworldly piece, where Bibi Zhou is the spiritual rock, literally tied to these characters.The rope that connects Bibi Zhou and the dancers over time and space is a simple but highly&nbsp;effective device in also creating a connection between Zhou, the dancers and the viewer. It is delivered with&nbsp;characteristic skill and conviction by Jodeb - aided in no small part by the brilliant cinematography by Kristof Brandl - and also invites the viewer to ponder on the metaphorical aspect of a piece in which the moon is also a force, like a character in itself.&nbsp;The artist may be only vaguely known to a Western audience, but this one stands up with Jodeb's finest work. Rita Ora proceeds over a not-so-ancient ritual in this flawless dance video by Sophie Muller.Muller is the undisputed monarch of the performance video. It is difficult to overstate quite how long and impressive her reel is, let alone her influence on the music industry. While her videos have no obvious identifier, there is a timeless succinctness that carries through her repertoire, and this is a slick example of her light touch.This pared-down take on an pagan ritual for Ora's team-up with Tiësto and&nbsp;Jonas Blue is a pretty good analogy for her style. Muller understands that Rita Ora doesn’t need a multitude of setups to command a video. There is a bold light display, and some typically brilliant choreography from Aaron Sillis. But the ritual&nbsp;magic in question is Ora’s magnetic charisma. And Muller provides her with everything she needs to express it.

Rashid Babiker, who&#39;s first video was the excellent promo for <a href="https://www.promonews.tv/videos/2018/10/15/jorja-smith-your-own-rashid-babiker/55494" target="_blank">Jorja Smith&#39;s On Your Own</a>, now directs Jorja with Maverick Sabre. They are two strangers who have an everyday, but quietly powerful&nbsp;encounter.Maverick plays the cab driver who picks up Jorja as his fare. The song Slow Down, and their performances, plus the graphic touches that Babiker provides allows you to take in the world and feel the atmosphere gradually building between the pair.It ends, in an intriguing way, with a bond seeming to appear between them - and then it&#39;s gone, probably forever. A resonant little cinematic episode, and a fine showcase for both artists.

Maxine Peake plays a woman who retreats to her hotel room to sink into alcoholic despair, in Iain Forsyth and Jane Pollard&#39;s new video for Ex:Re, the solo project of Elena Tonra, lead singer of&nbsp;Daughter.While Tonra appears on the room&#39;s TV screen, watching her as she performs her song The Dazzler, Peake - brilliant in so many TV dramas and movies, from Shameless to the David Slade-directed Black Mirror episode <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xejjA2AFO5I" target="_blank">Metalhead</a>&nbsp;&ndash; gives a characteristically powerful performance as a woman apparently driven to self-destruction.The video was shot at the Town Hall Hotel in East London - which becomes The Dazzler depicted in Tonra&#39;s lyrics. It&#39;s a reunion with the singer for the directing duo, who created a triptych of videos for Daughter&#39;s&nbsp;second album Not To Disappear.&nbsp;Forysth and Pollard were&nbsp;inspired by Alfred Hitchcock&rsquo;s iconic movie Vertigo, infusing this piece with a&nbsp;muted colour palette to reflect their character&#39;s&nbsp;spiralling inward journey.&nbsp;And then ending on a jolting moment of surrealism.

Sophie Muller's first video since signing to Prettybird sees her making her third video for the now singularly-named Cheryl. And as well as the name reduction, it's also a Cheryl as we've never seen her before.That's making the&nbsp;video a magnet for debate about whether or not Cheryl has had facial surgery, and a bigger one about the pressure on our pop stars to stay young-looking. But in fact, the video is something of a triumph on its own terms. After you watch it once, you can focus on the more important stuff, and appreciate the fact that Sophie Muller has done it again.This is a very slick pop product that ticks the boxes. It sees Muller reunited with one of the old school great DoPs, Dan Landin, and the use of art direction, lighting and choreography is top notch, with something of a 90s flavour, updated for 2018. But at the heart, Cheryl herself gives a performance of comeback single Love Made Me Do It that that adds&nbsp;personality, warmth and humour to the&nbsp;singing-and-dancing stuff. It&nbsp;seems to be saying: 'this is just all a bit of fun, isn't it?'.&nbsp;&nbsp;Good for you, Cheryl.&nbsp;

Ian Schwartz's video for Rudimental begins on a mist-shrouded rugby field, one player ploughing through&nbsp;tackles before being floored by one extra powerful opposing player. It's a superbly well-crafted introduction to this story about two rivals who join together to achieve their goals, to break the mould within their community.Shot on location in Auckland, and&nbsp;Schwartz focusses on these two determined characters and their budding friendship,&nbsp;and on gritty, cinematic shots of their city (by DoP Steve Annis), while keeping&nbsp;the narrative open-ended - so the viewers can draw their own conclusions.Ultimately it perfectly suits the fist-pumping passion of Tom Walker's vocal performance of Walk Alone - the latest song released ahead of Rudimental's forthcoming album Toast To Our Differences (released on January 25th) –&nbsp;and it makes a riveting watch.&nbsp;
