Hector Dockrill directs a heartwrenching promo for new Lewis Capaldi track Pointless.&nbsp;The narrative for the video captures a mother-son relationship with beautiful and heart-breaking intimacy. Spanning a couple of decades, the concept follows a&nbsp;single mother who strives against all odds to give her son the life she never had, and is packed with an emotional punch.&nbsp;With a wonderful performance&nbsp;from&nbsp;BAFTA winner Niamh Algar (The Virtues, Raised by Wolves)&nbsp;and three actors playing the son at different stages of his life - including Charley Palmer-Rothwell as her grown-up son -&nbsp;the video reinterprets the song's lyrics to explore a different type of relationship, and it works perfectly.[imgtoken data:1]The naturalistic cinematography and relatable themes help make the video feel incredibly realistic and universal, and it will no doubt have viewers thinking about their own loved ones as we enter the festive period.&nbsp;With mixed dialogue throughout, we both hear and see glimpses into the ups and downs of their daily lives over the years including financial hardship and the tightrope of being a working single parent. And in keeping with the theme of family, Laura Dockrill – Hector’s sister - wrote the script, making this a family affair both on and off screen.“Lewis had a beautiful idea that focused on the mother/son bond, and how responsibility shifts as you grow older," says Hector Dockrill. "Niamh Algar is a phenomenal talent and we’re already chomping at the bit to work together again. With only a week’s prep, she managed to immerse herself into the role and completely make it her own. This is definitely a special film that everybody can connect with – a shout out to every mother.”

Lewis Capaldi returns to action with Forget Me, and teams up with Louis Bhose to show he is up for a crazy, even mind-boggling challenge for its video -&nbsp;a shot-for-shot remake of a classic video from the early 1980s.Many viewers won't have seen the original when it first appeared - it is over forty years old, after all - but the iconic visual of WHAM!'s Club Tropicana&nbsp;is immediately recognisable in the opening frames of Bhose's video for Forget Me. Viewed through a contemporary lens, this is&nbsp;completely offbeat in the best way. Throw in Capaldi's cheeky personality and Bhose's love for whimsical ideas, and you're onto a winner.&nbsp;It's also something of a remarkable feat. And despite being a carefully structured&nbsp;remake, the video is still full of its own energy and vigour, largely down to the creative crew involved.[imgtoken data:1]&nbsp;"It's not exactly what I imagine most people had on their bingo cards for 'Big Lewis Capaldi Comeback Vid'," reflext Louis Bhose.&nbsp;"But hey, sometimes you gotta kill yourself precisely recreating a classic paean to hedonism for a melancholy song about second heartbreaks. It was really fun though - a week in San Antonio getting carsick and annoying our excellent local art department ('yes! that's almost it!!')."Hard to single out members of our incredible crew, but everyone went absolutely above and beyond to make the vid the best it could be. Big shouts to Lewis for being up for anything and choosing such an odd idea... And am happy to report that I got heat stroke on the shoot and live in hope that any BTS will never see the light of day."&nbsp;

Dua Lipa transforms triumphantly into a cartoon heroine in Lisha Tan's animated video for Hallucinate, from her second studio album Future Nostalgia.Inspired both by the disco aesthetic of Studio 54 in the ‘70s, and cartoon styles of various eras - particularly the Betty Boop-starring Fleischer cartoons of the 1930s and '40s - Dua Lipa plays the feisty showgirl who spreads positive vibes through a series of increasingly psychedelic scenarios.From a Vegas-style performance with her groovy star-headed dancers Dua speeds through different spaces with a growing band of sweet little friends, each one more&nbsp;dizzylingly wacky than the last. But when she lands in a field of daisies, it becomes a bad trip into the netherworld of the evil clown - before an explosive escape into disco heaven.Experienced in both illustration and animation, Lisha Tan evolved some classic cartoon styles to bring them up to date, using&nbsp;hand-drawn animation techniques. With additional animation by Titmouse,&nbsp;the video that was created at the height of the global lockdown and completed during isolation.[imgtoken data:1]“Dua Lipa approached us with the concept of creating a 2D animated world inspired by the ‘70s disco heyday with the wacky characters, different rooms, diverse color palettes and a sense of never knowing which direction the psychedelic journey will take you on," says Tan.&nbsp;"We incorporated true-to-life details such as her dream scenario of hanging out in a flower field and dancing with her pet pygmy goats, through to falling into her genuine nightmare... clowns. The attention to detail was crucial.“Given so many summer music shows are cancelled this year, we all wanted to create something super fun, escapist and that has a colourful festival vibe.”

Barcelona-based Trizz Studio's Oriol Puig directs an introspective narrative&nbsp;told through beautiful 3D&nbsp;animation, in the epic video for Dermot Kennedy's Giants.&nbsp;The visual&nbsp;opens with a spark to ignite the journey, a spectacular wall of clouds erupting in an otherwordly location. A tapestry of computer-generated environments and textures follow, as metal fibres interweave to form an exoskeleton&nbsp;of Kennedy.&nbsp;The power of nature and Dermot’s persona suggest a spirit of both mechanical and detailed phenomena in Puig’s artistic mind.[imgtoken data:1]As he makes his way through the perpetually changing landscape, the very structures of the ground and earth&nbsp;twist and deform to create new textures and shapes. Speaking about the striking concept, director Puig says "We&nbsp;created a subject and set it in constant motion, sometimes struggling through different situations, then stopping to enjoy moments of simple beauty - a metaphor for a constantly evolving life."The production value on-screen is breathtaking, and the themes of humanity and evolution are represented through the everyday being presented in an unusual way- for example, a torrent of blue sand moving in an invisible container, and bubbles of mercury expanding whilst the ground implodes around them. These uncanny details&nbsp;help immerse the viewer in a new world and environment, something familiar but very alien at the same time, and the detailed attention to&nbsp;light and shadow&nbsp;blurs the boundary between reality and imagination.&nbsp;[imgtoken data:2]This project marks the first collaboration between Barcelona studio Trizz and the UK's BlinkInk.&nbsp;Trizz were commissioned in lockdown during mid Covid, just as nature’s recovery became apparent.&nbsp;“Coronavirus has made people rethink their relationship to nature and how that affects our actions." Puig continues.&nbsp;"It’s made us rethink and visualize the impact we have and how quickly nature is able to self-heal. This brings us to a new set of emotions and a new angle on what our priorities should be."[imgtoken data:3]Spanning three months work with weekly updates to the record label, the film was made 95% in 3D, with additional performance sequences of Dermot shot against a greenscreen at his home.&nbsp;Trizz scanned existing video footage of Dermot to learn his poise and mimic as well as reference his textures, and the environments were generated from photos and&nbsp;shaded, lit and manipulated using procedural and particle systems.Beautifully executed and an exciting first collaboration for the two animation studios, Giants is a cinematic adventure through a futuristic landscape, and is impossible to look away from.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Henry Scholfield is back with Dua Lipa. Following on from his monumental UKMVA-winning videos for New Rules&nbsp;and IDGAF,&nbsp;Scholfield has created another visual feast for Break My Heart - taken from her just-released second album Future Nostalgia -&nbsp;utilising clever camera trickery,&nbsp;great choreography and perfectly stylised production design to create this epic&nbsp;emotional narrative.We follow Dua on her journey as scenarios materialise and&nbsp;amplify the emotional state, illustrated here through fast-paced transitions and&nbsp;setups, mirroring the heartfelt lyrics.&nbsp;The video which was shot in Bulgaria uses a colour palette of early Almodóvar mashed up with mid 90s styling via the iridescent surreal-scapes of Japanese love hotels. Production had their work cut out with VFX, choreography, wire work, stunts - and a tilting set. The sets were built across three stages, and beautifully realised by production designer Mark Connell.Scholfield explains: “I wanted to create something that felt like that tumble dryer of emotions when falling for someone who’s pulling away from you. Dua’s perfomance was brilliant (as always!) taking us on her journey from vulnerable to empowered, via her playful cheeky-charming self.”And the video, single and the album release were all brought forward,&nbsp;despite the Coronavirus pandemic, on Dua Lipa's command. She states: “I hope it brings you some happiness, and I hope it makes you smile, and I hope it makes you dance."&nbsp;

The group get out&nbsp;and arm themselves with heavy chains and baseball bats, before charging off into the night. Returning with a rolled up carpet, it's evident what has happened. But will they get away with it?David Wright's cinematography elevates the simple concept, using neon light to contrast Ray and the group against the dim residential location, and the styling and subtle art direction help turn quite a dark idea into something more accessible and commercial. &nbsp;
