Samuel Douek continues his collaboration with&nbsp;Yonaka, following the action-packed video for <a href="https://www.promonews.tv/videos/2023/02/06/yonaka-panic-samuel-douek/80251" target="_blank">Panic</a>, by directing&nbsp;the first of five visualisers for the Brighton band's forthcoming EP.All the visualisers were conceived as a single body of work, each one stripped back to single setups with stark simple set design. A motion control robotic arm was used to allow Douek and team to seamlessly cut between various chaotic setups as continuous shots.

Kassandra Powell directs an absorbing comeback promo for Bimini, which shows that you can find glamour in the most unlikely places.&nbsp;The&nbsp;video for Rodeo opens with Bimini on a mechanical bull, shining bright as lights refract from the&nbsp;abundance of reflective monochromatic textures.&nbsp;Quickly bringing the concept back down to Earth, we realise this whole setup is in a typical British pub, and the punters are as about as apathetic to Bimini's performance as they come. But whilst most glare&nbsp;disapprovingly as Bimini continues to do her thing, one character breaks out of their passive state to get absorbed into the otherworldly trance of the music.&nbsp;The contrast of glossy pop concept and&nbsp;stoic public is a brilliant visual dynamic, and DoP&nbsp;Luke Dryden's cinematography captures the perfect balance of these two opposing styles.[imgtoken data:1][imgtoken data:2]

Luis Hindman returns with another mesmerising visual for Joesef, this time in the form of a three-part live film, where the Scottish soul singer performs songs from his debut album, Permanent Damage, released in January.Set in the same world as the excellent series of videos directed by Hindman for tracks from&nbsp;the album,&nbsp;the film takes place in the fictional 'Apartment 22' - a place&nbsp;referenced in the album, where Joesef has been stranded by a past lover.&nbsp;Shot on 16mm, the video was shot by Jake Gabbay, and is comprised of subtle Steadicam shots by&nbsp;Justin Theodore as Joesef and his band perform three songs: Joe, Borderline and Just Come Home With Me Tonight.The textural, almost surreal aesthetic perfectly contrasts the intimate live performance, and the concept as a whole is a brilliant extension to the universe Hindman and the artist have so lovingly brought to life.[imgtoken data:1]&nbsp;

<h3>The latest of our new series asking British music video-makers about the past year and their thoughts about the year ahead, we grabbed some time with Francesca Woods&nbsp;- co-founder and executive producer at CAMP.</h3>Fran formed CAMP with director <a href="https://camp.productions/team/samuel-douek" target="_blank">Samuel Douek</a> during the pandemic, so she reflects on a year of greater freedom and expansion of the company's philosophy and ethos. She also hails the music video producer community,&nbsp;some groundbreaking hairstylists - and gives us the heads-up on her efforts so far on TikTok.<blockquote>We're opening an office... a CAMP&nbsp;creative space for our network to work and create from.</blockquote>2022How would you describe last year in a few words?Travel - Last year was the first year of travel since Covid, so 50% of our shoots were in sunny locations.Growth – CAMP&nbsp;grew from the seed of an idea into a production company with a growing roster and&nbsp;its own bricks-and-mortar HQ.What was your favourite project or projects you worked on last year?My favourite was our very last shoot of last year, shot in the week before Christmas:&nbsp;Tayce&nbsp;‘Swagzilla’ directed by <a href="https://camp.productions/team/kassandra-powell" target="_blank">Kassandra Powell</a>.It was so refreshing to work with an artist who had complete trust in the director and the process. She’s also brave and a phenomenal performer and it shows in the video. More and more meetings are becoming IRL and were able to attend edits and grades. I’d never seen anything like it, so much 'fuck you' energy. Wigs have stepped up a notch thanks to incredible hair artists like <a href="https://www.instagram.com/shamara_roper/?hl=en" target="_blank">Shamara Roper</a>, <a href="https://www.instagram.com/styledbyvodka/?hl=en" target="_blank">Styled by Vodka</a> and <a href="https://www.instagram.com/rosskwan/?hl=en" target="_blank">Ross Kwan</a>, who are becoming parts of the narrative and the creative.What was other cultural highlight (or highlights) of the year?Seeing our music video agent Alexa Haywood smash it at the UKMVAs, with <a href="https://www.promonews.tv/videos/2022/04/14/harry-styles-it-was-tanu-muino/75920" target="_blank">Harry Styles's As It Was</a> winning Best Pop Video UK,&nbsp;and then winning BEST AGENT OF THE YEAR.Any other personal experience that defines 2022 for you?The producer community! It's truly amazing. There are a few amazing Whatsapp and Instagram groups which are an open forum for helping each other out. I think I speak for us all when I say that we have all had our bacon saved on the groups.<blockquote>This year will be about helping clients use their money in the best way.</blockquote>2023What are you looking forward to in 2023 – both for work and for other parts of your life?Seeing our roster grow. We have purposely kept it small to give each director the attention they deserve in order for them to grow and flourish. We’re now at the stage where&nbsp;we can start that again, which is really exciting.Have you set work objectives for this year and if so, what are they?Helping more people get in to the industry. What are the issues that we should be most concerned with?As we know, budgets are shrinking. So this year will be about helping clients using their money in the best way. It’s our job to stay up to date with emerging trends.If you could ‘make a wish’, and reform or change the environment in which you work in one way, what would you wish for?&nbsp;Same thing. Girli is haunted by overwhelming emotions, in&nbsp;Kassandra Powell's promo for Imposter Syndrome.&nbsp;We see Girli in an American-style&nbsp;diner, where every other customer&nbsp;appears to be giving her the evil eye. She hallucinates a surreal barrage of mocking looks and angry stares.&nbsp;Surrounded by a judgemental mob&nbsp;in the restaurant, she breaks out, only to become part of another mob, of angry group protesters.“We wanted to create a combination of aesthetics taking inspiration from Americana &amp; Wes Anderson," says Powell.Casting from Girli's fanbase (Pinkies), the creative team were lucky enough to get a crowd of excited extras to hold placards in the protest scene, which adds a lot of production value to the project.&nbsp;

The fourth video in an outstanding series for alt-soul singer Joesef by Luis Hindman offers one final unexpected twist.Following the videos for It's Been A Little Heavy Lately, East End Coast and Joe, this one for&nbsp;Just Come Home With Me Tonight ties everything together, carrying through the modern film noir aesthetic, this time with Hindman collaborating with DoP Nikita Khatsarevich.Once again, Joesef is a night out - lovelorn and lonely - but then he finds someone. This turns into a dreamlike chapter of passion on London's drizzly and dark&nbsp;streets.Finally, there is a connection back to the first video when Joesef returns home - alone -&nbsp;where the love interest from that video (played by Adam Monks) is waiting for him. So is Joesef unfaithful, or did everything before that actually really happen?As with its predecessors this conveys the sense&nbsp;that the Scottish singer-songwriter&nbsp;is a romantic but restless soul, and does so in impressively cinematic fashion. All the films serve his debut album, Permanent Damage - out in January 2023 - very well indeed.

Anne-Marie finds good reason to suspect that Aitch is up to no good, in Samuel Douek's entertaining video for Psycho.Douek creates a boisterously colourful, almost cartoonish series of environments in which Anne-Marie can wreak havoc upon Aitch's attempts at serial cheating. The director's approach gels nicely with the light-hearted tone of the collaboration between two of the UK's biggest pop stars.And he gets sterling support from the production design by&nbsp;Tilda Bonham Carter, styling by Cora Delaney and Justin Rose, and the casting of Aitch's numerous other girlfriends.[imgtoken data:1]"The idea of the video was to empower anyone who has been in Anne-Marie’s position before," says Douek.
