William Pope directs a charming, offbeat&nbsp;comedy for Dusted, the new project by Canadian musician Brian Borcherdt, about a dysfunctional English middle class family.&nbsp;The video for Baseball features the escalating tit-for-tat rivalry between a father (played by Michael Fenton Stevens) and his children, (Daisy Waterstone and Noah Carr-Kingsnorth), who take increasingly devious&nbsp;methods&nbsp;to one-up each other - all triggered by the father's selfish preoccupation with his model soldiers.Inspired by classic films like&nbsp;Harold &amp; Maude, Pierrot Le Fou and The Royal Tenenbaums, the visual is split into several chapters, allowing the narrative to follow a traditional film structure whilst still remaining playful and exploratory.&nbsp;DoP&nbsp;Simon Van Parijs leans into the indie vibe by shooting on film, allowing a warm, filmic palette to encapsulate the concept - and Pope's direction of the story and exceptional cast is pitch-perfect.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

Jonjo Lowe builds on his VFX-fired work for The Big Moon and PREP with a colourful promo for pop debutante Lauren Faith.The director creates a somewhat nostalgic feel for the Falls Right Down video, with&nbsp;retro-styling, pastel purple background&nbsp;and touches of tube-TV blurriness.And Lowe's greenscreen expertise also proved useful in creating&nbsp;a five-piece band of multiple Laurens in one of the main sequences.&nbsp;But ultimately the 'real' Lauren finishes&nbsp;her performance by bumping off her clones. She's a killer queen.

Jonjo Lowe's video takes us into the turmoil of three relationships, through dance and cosmic&nbsp;imagery, for&nbsp;British alt-pop group PREP's bubbly Years Don't Lie.Lowe places his characters in a highly&nbsp;stylised world created by 3D animation and makes it work. In this case, a giant moon appears to be about to obliterate the home planet of the three couples, who appear oblivious to oncoming danger. Their passionate feelings for each other are expressed through dance - and in a final twist, they ultimately indulge in some lover-swapping to achieve greater fulfillment.After his similarly stylised video for indie band <a href="https://www.promonews.tv/videos/2020/07/20/big-moon-why-jonjo-lowe/65723" target="_blank">The Big Moon</a>, Lowe's vision of love at the end of the world, matching live action and animation via greenscreen, is a step&nbsp;forward towards a strong signature look.

Bring Me The Horizon frontman Oli Sykes reanimates the Japanese monster movie genre&nbsp;in his thoroughly entertaining video for Obey - co-starring fellow Brit rocker Yungblud.&nbsp;Taking inspiration from Mecha - giant robots controlled by humans, popularised in Japanese anime and concepts such as&nbsp;Power Rangers&nbsp;and&nbsp;Transformers - the video pits Sykes' robot, towering over the city below, against Yungblud's punkier, spikier humanoid nemesis. All hell ensues when they confront each other - building to a disarming (and hilarious) final twist.[imgtoken data:1]With the spot-on production design by Dale Oliver Slater,&nbsp;and sterling work on robot wardrobe and makeup by Natasha Lawes,&nbsp;DoP&nbsp;Dan Stafford-Clark pays homage to the Japanese source material (and possibly Beastie Boys' Intergalactic too) while adding a contemporary flair of his own.Then VFX work at Creep Post put excellent finishing touches to Sykes' vision. Talking about the meaning behind the video and the track, he says: "We consider ourselves free but only because the chains are invisible, and we are controlled in ways we don't even want to think about. They tell us how to live with a smile on their face - like shit ain't fucked up, inform us of tragic statistics like its nothing… it’s a weird world.[imgtoken data:2]"2020 is the year where we’re all being challenged by a deep and dark reality, but it’s also feeling like a time of hope and positivity. Our generation is waking up, realising what’s being conveyed, what we’re being sheltered from, and with that comes empowerment. We are being controlled in ways we don’t even want to think about, but with knowledge comes strength, and choices.. and the music video represents all of that."I wanted to add a real sense of nostalgia to the music video also to deliver such heavy lyrical content as a reminder of simpler times, and I’ve always been a huge fan of anime such as Neon Genesis Evangelion, so creating a blend of that, Power rangers and Godzilla was a super fun and creative shoot."

Following their successes including Rhianna&nbsp;and Fine Wine, KVLDR and Yxng Bane collaborate yet again for Vroom, a performance-based video with additional VFX wizardry.The film&#39;s is satisfying fluidity comes from the decision by KVLDR (aka Kalvadour Peterson)&nbsp;to shoot on a state-of-the-art motion control rig, seamlessly enabling multiple versions of Yxng Bane to interact with different dancers in a single shot - and also strongly feature the video&#39;s metallic centrepiece, the classic BMW M4.KLVDR says: &ldquo;Vroom was all about making a statement. I&rsquo;ve been working with Bane &amp; G for a while now and we always try our best to create what&rsquo;s right for the song, rather than everybody&#39;s expectations. I wanted the video to reflect the different sides of Bane.&quot;So the idea of multiple versions of him being revealed throughout a high-energy performance video was the driving force to the use of motion control with a stripped back set. I wanted it to feel like every 30 seconds there is something new and unexpected. It&rsquo;s a statement of what is to come from Bane.&rdquo;

And what a good plan that is - until the set starts to fall apart at the seams, and we see the directors and PR team desperately attempt&nbsp;to keep things going with a band clearly not that comfortable performing in spacesuits.Kristian Young&#39;s video for The Sights goes smoothly into meta video territory, turning the video into a critique of badly conceived music video concepts and eventually championing the merits of honest band performance, as the band ditch the space garb for normal clothes.There&#39;s a couple of amusing digressions from the track involving the band along the way,&nbsp;but, quite honestly, that lunar set just isn&#39;t that bad...&nbsp;
