He is living on memories, and not much else. And then there's that strange pool, on one side of his bed, like a portal to another dimension.As with her previous videos&nbsp;- including&nbsp;the <a href="https://www.promonews.tv/videos/2017/10/02/moses-sumney-lonely-world-allie-avital/49860" target="_blank">Sasha Lane-starring Lonely World</a>&nbsp;and <a href="https://www.promonews.tv/videos/2018/04/23/moses-sumney-quarrel-allie-avital-moses-sumney/52778" target="_blank">Quarrel</a> - Avital uses Sumney's remarkable voice for the platform of a simple narrative that reveals elements of myth and mystery. The pictures retain a close connection to the words, and through his memories and pain, and brief transformation back to his younger self, the fate of old Moses is sealed.This is a very assured work, where you can perceive a number of important influences - including Orwell, William Burroughs, Bowie - but none are as important as the creative chemistry between the artist and the director.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

Joji negotiates a surreal&nbsp;fantasy of escape in his&nbsp;remarkable video for Gimme Love - the third single from forthcoming&nbsp;album&nbsp;Nectar&nbsp;- that's comprised of two distinct parts: the first directed by George Miller (that's Joji himself); the second part by&nbsp;Andrew Donoho.&nbsp;Part one immediately sets a frenetic&nbsp;pace with a rapid-fire montage of a homemade-style video, creating the semblance of a VHS tape recording. It tells the story of a scientist - played by Joji - working his way up the ranks. The location and set design instil an immediate realism, almost producing a mockumentary voyeurism that offers a glimpse into the career progression of this man.&nbsp;And as he climbs the ladder, his character changes. Brief moments of bonding with co-workers are overshadowed by the anxieties and frustrations that weigh him down. As he receives greater recognition for his professional accomplishments, he becomes unhappier.&nbsp;By the time he&nbsp;reaches the high point of his career, promoted to government-level, he is ordering others around and flying into fits of rage - of while also having suffered numerous tragedies and setbacks.This breathless montage of fast-paced cuts is counterpointed by the upbeat pop production of the track, Gimme Love. As the beat transitions into an emotive ballad, an ethereal melody initiates the cut into Part Two&nbsp;- and the immediate change in production values as Donoho's direction takes over.[imgtoken data:1]At this point,&nbsp;Joji’s character hijacks a rocket, and is preparing to project himself into space, while the astronauts are locked outside and the control room panics. Chaos is still unfolding, but the roles have shifted, with&nbsp;anger and confusion transferred to others,&nbsp;as Joji's persona now exhibits a disturbing calm.&nbsp;With Joji’s decision to produce a song that shifts in tone through the mid-way, the music video manages to naturally replicate the sudden deviation, and&nbsp;Andrew Donoho’s stylised approach in the second segment is the perfect complement to the rawness of the first.The themes of this video mirror Sanctuary, the first previous single&nbsp;from&nbsp;Nectar,&nbsp;establishing a clear narrative progression through the new album, and presenting a dramatic end to what seems to be the beginning of a 'Joji-verse'.&nbsp;

Check.&nbsp;Pinch yourself and check if you're dreaming, because 2010&nbsp;Kesha (without the $ sign in her name) is back with the video for My Own Dance, directed by Allie Avital. Celebrating the hungover parties&nbsp;and the surreal party-pop visuals&nbsp;that cement her videos as some of the most standout of the decade, My Own Dance focuses on a motel full of the weirdest and wildest characters LA has to offer.&nbsp;This is Kesha at her most free;&nbsp;liberated and quirky, with attitude to boot. The moments of her performing choreography alone in a parking lot are offbeat yet weirdly charming and intimate. It's great to see an artist strip back&nbsp;to who they are and what they want to project and feel - and if anyone in the industry&nbsp;deserves the freedom to live their truth, it's Kesha.And with pastel colours, daddies and patriotic bodybuilders, the artist is making sure we know she is here to both stay and slay with her new sound.&nbsp;

Top notch early 80s-style cinematography - check. Wonderful opening title typography - check. Not actually true but utterly believable names of mid-range 80s Hollywood movies - check repeatedly, over and over again....This is a wonderful labour of love by the production/direction team of Laura Gorun,&nbsp;Cooper Roussel&nbsp;and&nbsp;Dimitri Basil for Joywave, which takes a fairly familiar idea - lets face it, turning a music video into a movie title sequence is not unique - and then makes it something special by the breadth, as well as the quality of the execution.So many movies, and they are all bang-on for their particular&nbsp;genre. The result is like a snapshot of work from a relatively short period by a great Hollywood titles designer like the <a href="https://www.theguardian.com/film/2019/oct/02/pillow-talk-to-bonnie-and-clyde-the-greatest-wayne-fitzgerald-main-titles" target="_blank">late, great Wayne Fitzgerald</a>.&nbsp;Here is the director's cut, which differs from the official video&nbsp;for Joywave's Obsession in it's pure focus on the movie titles only. But <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M2G9qar-yKw" target="_blank">the 'official' version</a>, which features&nbsp;the band, and their movie star and director alter-egos, is pretty&nbsp;wonderful too.&nbsp;And perhaps not surprisingly, this was shot entirely on film...
