Novelist is unphased by the drama circling around him, in Ehsan's fiery promo for Calm.&nbsp;Shot last year and released to coincide with&nbsp;the grime star's 24th birthday, the hypnotic visual uses&nbsp;burning film overlays and erratic editing to convey a growing sense of drama and suspense as Novelist casually walks the nighttime streets of London.&nbsp;Ehsan intercuts Novelist's unruffled presence with cutaways of curious, and increasingly anxious bystanders, aware that something big is about to ignite.&nbsp;It's a mesmerising visual, elevated by the artist's confident performance, DoP&nbsp;James Henry's camerawork, and Ehsan's fusion of gritty reality with otherworldly elements.&nbsp;A very different beast to&nbsp;the director's comedic video for&nbsp;Unknown P's Piers Morgan, released late&nbsp;last last year, but just as impressive.

Hak Baker is having a bit of a wobbly and Jon E Price has caught it on camera and turned it into a moody film.Wobbles On Cobbles&nbsp;plays like a London lockdown lullaby of sorts, so Price has fittingly created a promo with dreamlike visuals and gentle camera movements to match, around a combination of the recording and Baker's live performance of the song.Price’s recent projects with Baker have included a music documentary and live tape sessions for the Levi's Your Voice. Your Way&nbsp;campaign. Here he captures the singer-songwriter's easy charisma in a more reflective place than his previous music videos, as a lone soul during lockdown.It offers more&nbsp;evidence of Baker's unique role in London's musical landscape, as a troubadour, ploughing his own furrow, chronicling real life during hard times.&nbsp;An important, original voice in the great city.

Joao Retorta directs a transcendent exploration of love and meaning, in his latest video for Prospa's Ecstasy.&nbsp;Inside a loft-style&nbsp;apartment, two lovers are intertwined, discussing life through a voiceover. Their lips don't move, but their feelings and thoughts are expressed through&nbsp;subtitles and the knowing glances they share.[imgtoken data:1]Every moment together is ecstasy for the couple, as they lose themselves in each other's bodies and minds, forming an organic bond that is otherworldly and hypnotic.&nbsp;DoP Harry Wheeler captures the experience in a documentary fashion, a fly-on-the-wall perspective of one couple's magical connection. The track's ebb and flow between contemplation and urgency is reflected in B Brendan Jenkin's mesmerizing edit.&nbsp;[imgtoken data:2]The distorted frame rates and frenetic camera movement&nbsp;create a whirling aesthetic, uninhibited and detached, representing the addictive quality of love and the journey the couple share.&nbsp;Colour is also used to great effect in this video. When the couple are separated and away from each other, a cold blue permeates the atmosphere, cold and isolated. The palette switches to sunny orange when they are together, representing the warmth and safety of their connection.&nbsp;[imgtoken data:3]A glitchy projection setup at the midpoint represents the more surreal&nbsp;aspects of the concept, the idea that our minds are rich havens of experience that transcend our limited human experience.&nbsp;Beautifully executed, Retorta has captured the essence of the track in the concept, and transformed it into a nostalgic, poignant tapestry of life and love.

If you want to remember why you fell in love with dance music in the first place, this is the one for you.João Retorta travels to Ukraine to capture&nbsp;the spirit of a youth subculture devoted to rave, soundtracked by the&nbsp;euphoric techno of Prayer, by the Leeds electronic duo Prospa.Retorta has created a heightened, impressionistic piece about the kids who get lost in the music - and feeding in their experiences and philosophy throughout the piece via subtitles. As the subtitles become stranger, the line between documentary and fiction is completely blurred. The very stylish visuals serve the music beautifully, aided by a superb edit by Brendan Jenkins.

Jon E Price&#39;s latest video for Blue Lab Beats - his follow-up to <a href="http://www.promonews.tv/videos/2018/02/07/blue-lab-beats-pineapple-jon-e-price">Pineapple</a> - brings us a sweet mini-fantasy of London life. It&nbsp;centres around three friends who perform an impromptu dance piece in an East End cafe, while the girl waits for the waitress to bring her apple pie and custard.Taking reference from the French expression &#39;Ooh la la&#39;, the dance is inspired by one of French New Wave&#39;s most iconic dance scenes, but visualised with eccentric Britishness. It works delightfully well for the band involved in the new wave of British jazz.

Filmed in eight days across three continents, director Ross Stirling and DoP Nick Gillespie travelled a total of 53,000 miles in order to capture Mumford &amp; Sons, Baaba Maal, The Very Best and Beatenberg - all the musicians who collaborated on the mini-album Johannesburg.&nbsp;And they pull&nbsp;all these disparate talents and locations together with a concept that feels of a piece with the musical project. Each musician was filmed in a location that was most significant or striking to them.&nbsp;For the celebrated world music vocalist Baaba Maal, this was his breathtaking homeland of Senegal. For South African indie-pop act Beatenberg, this was Cape Town&rsquo;s beach-side suburb Muizenberg. Other locations featured in the video include Belgium, Malawi and the UK.Each artist was filmed straight to camera in an effort to emphasise the diversity and immense beauty of the world around them. The visual device works really well in emphasising a common cause of the musicians, and shared&nbsp;joie de vivre.

With his directing partner James Hall, as D.A.R.Y.L., they have been busy making the acclaimed documentaries&nbsp;Werewolves Across America, Katy Perry&rsquo;s Part of Me, and most recently The Possibilities Are Endless starring Edwyn Collins.

2012 X Factor&nbsp;winner James Arthur takes a winter morning stroll along the Thames, and on through a remarkably non-rainy&nbsp;London,&nbsp;in the promo for his new single Get Down - directed by Bugsy.The video is powered by some on-screen lyrical stabs, but the real visual hook come when the live action transforms to animation - an excellent enhancement&nbsp;courtesy of the&nbsp;team of nine animators from MPC who worked on the project.
