Josh Homme and Jonas Akerlund know how to put on a show. This one involves the devilish&nbsp;Josh with a dance troupe&nbsp;of Jonas Ak-ettes (surely the Swedish director himself was&nbsp;the inspiration for their long black wigs?) - through a series of pentagram-emblazoned scenes in leather jacket, tuxedo and top hat and tails.&nbsp;Josh the devilish showman is always nice while he&#39;s being naughty. And the track is a real grower too.

Rich Lee, the&nbsp;director of numerous&nbsp;Eminem videos&nbsp;including&nbsp;Rap God, The Monster and Not Afraid, shows he&#39;s mastered the action blockbuster with the video for Em&#39;s Phenomenal - a compendium of action film tropes, which also includes the near-obligatory cameo by John Malkovich.&nbsp;It&nbsp;follows a Bourne-style&nbsp;storyline, with Eminem waking up at a&nbsp;hospital,&nbsp;with no knowledge of who he is but with an incredible high jump,&nbsp;killer fighting skills, and what turns out to be an&nbsp;indestructible spinal column. What follows is&nbsp;a&nbsp;dense&nbsp;showcase of over-the-top&nbsp;VFX sequences with&nbsp;slow-mo fighting, car chases, free falling from helicopters, crashes through rooftops&nbsp;and of course,&nbsp;multiple&nbsp;explosions.And then there&#39;s Malkovich apearing in a rickshaw halfway through,&nbsp;lending some gravitas with his distinctive brand of smooth menace...&nbsp;

Closely following her Katy B video for Crying For No Reason (co-directed with Ross McDowell) comes her video for the most notorious pop performer of 2013 (male category).&nbsp;Perhaps not surprisingly, her video for Robin Thicke&#39;s Feel Good&nbsp;is a rather less provocative than Blurred Lines. And could Robin be slightly sending up his louche ratpack persona with this stagey setting with numerous leggy dancing girls? It&#39;s intercut with brief shots of a more troubled character...

Robin Thicke 'Feel Good' by Sophie Muller

David and Tilda Swinton are the suburban couple enjoying a wonderful life, until they start getting bothered by the noisy neighbours in Floria Sigismondi's fab video for David Bowie's The Stars (Are Out Tonight) - the second single from the long-awaited Bowie album The Next Day (out in March). 
It's about as different from the first video for Where Are We Now as you can ask for - and even starts as one thing, and then rather wonderfully turns into something else. Which happens to be a proper Floria Sigismondi video from the 1990s, plus comedy. Supermodel beauties Andrej Pejic and Saskia De Brauw are the catalyst for the change-up as they invade Dave and Tilda's psyches in a variety of guises - and particularly transforming the magnificent Ms Swinton in exactly the way you would hope in a David Bowie video (while also bringing back to mind her brilliant turn in classic 90s vid for Orbital's The Box).
Meanwhile, Dave gets the enjoyable role of being knocked about by a trio of Bowie-esque androgenous beauties. What a dream team. And what a great video for another cracking song. Bowie has his mojo back alright - including the knack of wrongfooting everyone.

And here's why: this nine minute epic of glamour, luxury, fantasy and sex that is Jonas's video for Duran Duran's Girl Panic!, starring Naomi Campbell, Cindy Crawford, Helena Christensen, Eva Herzigova and Yasmin Le Bon - playing the band. 

It was shot at the Savoy Hotel in London over two days, in a project that also saw Jonas shoot 22 pages of editorial and the Christmas cover of Harpers Bazaar with these five first-generation supermodels. And it's a jawdropping demonstration in what's possible with substantial brand sponsorship.

In his Icon Award film at the MVAs, Iggy Pop said that Jonas makes his videos seem bigger than the screen itself. And this is classic, über-Akerlund – escapist, erotic, irresistable... and brilliantly reconnects Duran Duran with the glamour of the supermodel era, and their own iconic early music videos. No wonder they came to pay homage to Jonas on Tuesday.

Duran Duran 'Girl Panic!' by Jonas Åkerlund

Jonas Akerlund and Gaga's successor to the wonderful Paparazzi - the one that really established the now familiar 'damaged-diva' persona - is a phenomenon: 14 million hits on Youtube in three days, since it debuted as an exclusive to Vevo at midnight, New York time, on Thursday.
Gaga is a vengeful coutured sociopath and Beyoncé at her most bodacious in the Tarantino-influenced second half, but the lurid women's prison sequence - a perfect setting for a mischievous pair like Jonas and Gaga - is what makes this nine minute mini-movie (shot beautifully by Par Ekberg) so memorable.
