Two music genres&nbsp;battle for supremacy&nbsp;in Sau Ali's stylish yet gritty promo for Jords and Lil Sykes' Drill Vs Grime.&nbsp;The narrative follows the artists as they&nbsp;enter an abstract simulation, in which the two genres go head-to-head in a high-energy showdown.Sau Ali recreates a street environment, in which both types of music emerged, in a studio environment - a rather brilliant move.&nbsp;It was also shot by DoP Henry Gill on black and white 16mm film - Kodak Double-x 7222&nbsp;-&nbsp;that adds another layer of texture to the visual.&nbsp;"The track is militant and explosive. I wanted to complement that by exploring the iconography of the two genres," says Sau Ali. "The ‘Street Monolith’ (concrete wall) that Jords &amp; Lil Sykes stand either side of; the huge speaker cone that pulsates above it; and the severed island street scenes... they all speak to these British genres’&nbsp;cultural kinship and shared DNA.[imgtoken data:1]"I wanted to create an experience that emphasised the retrospective theme but leaned towards a surreal tone to match the abstract narrative. DoP Henry Gill bought that to life. Shooting on 16mm and heading down a moody and nocturnal direction that I wanted the world to exist in."Production designer Jade Adeyemi essentially created the entire world. I wanted everything to look like we’d lifted it from real places. Jade understood and accomplished that beautifully."I worked closely on this concept with talented VFX artist Lee Delves before the job was even commissioned. We wanted to achieve an exaggerated visual that still maintained its authenticity. The ‘Genre Morphing’ shot (Jords &amp; Lil Sykes standing on either side of the street monolith) was intended to be achieved ‘in camera’ but budget limitations meant Lee was tasked with creating the shot in post - which actually accomplished the otherworldly&nbsp;sentiment that I was looking for, and is an example of how limitations can lead to great creative solutions in a music video."

Simon Owens's video for electronica duo Lunge features bandmember Viva expressing herself with controlled abandon within&nbsp;the vast empty space of Black Island Studios. And it is something to behold.&nbsp;This is the first of two videos by Owens for the band, who he discovered whilst listening to Marc Riley's evening&nbsp;show on 6Music. Turned out to be a match made in heaven as his video for This Idle Motion&nbsp;has a real sense of joy, and timelessness. It's a beautiful exercise&nbsp;in capturing&nbsp;a great performance."Lunge appeared all silvery, reflective and urgent through my left kneecap," says Owens, enigmatically. "I looked down, bent my knee and heard golden pop. I was next to the radio as Marc Riley played 'Off with their heads' for the 108th time. I loved it."I found myself talking with one half of the band, after a few messages back n forth we get talking about swinging, lots of swinging. That idea didn’t work out and it struck me the lead singer Viva could have two personalities in song form, dark and light (reality is lovely and lovelier), or light and shadow. So here it is Viva as light and shadow choreographed by us, Viva and me."If you watch Viva carefully when looking up to the sky she can actually see GLASS-z12 galaxy, us mere mortals could only see an old man precariously stood on a narrow piece of wood clutching a light. This is the key difference between performer and watcher, galaxies and light, and why just a single watch of This Idle Motion video can take you into the pillars of creation and the Lunge nebula."[imgtoken data:1][imgtoken data:2]

Director duos The Rest and UNCANNY team up for an 'exercise in patience and self reflection' in the video for slowthai's Selfish.&nbsp;The video sees the artist trapped in a glass box, with nothing but paint, paper and his own reflection as company.&nbsp;Swapping out his often-cheeky persona for a much darker, introspective side of his character, the video is full of angst, fear and confusion, which is mirrored by the bubbling tension and explosive release in the cinematography.&nbsp;Opening with a slow, contained tracking shot to establish the environment, the camera soon launches into a frantic sprint from side to side, enveloping the mayhem that is unleashed on the inside of the box.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

One thing's for sure, it's not your everyday scenario.[imgtoken data:1]"This was always going to be pretty nuts," says Robins. "I had a great conversation with the band about the new album called Hyper Dimensional Expansion Beam. That name was enough of a jumping off point, and I just threw a load of crazy shit at it. It felt right to be weird and post-apocalyptic but also disorientating and fucked up. I wanted to make people feel a bit sick in all honesty. "The music is so crazy yet intricately put together, there is something beautifully chaotic about it which fit very well with some post and camera techniques I’ve been developing for a while."I worked very closely with the immense team at Agile (particularly the post guys!) to make this film happen. What a seriously talented, generous and wonderful bunch of humans they are."&nbsp;

Never a good sign...THE&nbsp;REST - Alex Motlhabane and Lewis Levi - ratchet up the tension throughout this enigmatic narrative, alluding to&nbsp;the legendary tale of the Creature of Bodmin Moor and a cult that feverishly worships it.SBTRKT came up with the concept, with Nila - who created the artwork that is central to the narrative. "There's a whole lot of story layers in the video which i’ll leave you to figure out!"&nbsp;SBTRKT writes under the video on YouTube. The Safdie Brothers meet&nbsp;Blade in Milo Blake's surreal, visceral video&nbsp;for Biig Piig's Fun.&nbsp;This intense horror-drama begins at full-throttle with Biig Piig playing one half of an outlaw couple, who are deep in&nbsp;an argument after a robbery gone wrong. Then a dark energy engulfs the couple, transforming them into vampiric alter-egos of themselves.With menacing new auras, chaos then ensues - with a lone medical worker carrying blood supplies as the pair's hapless&nbsp;victim.&nbsp;In terms of the nature of the narrative this is&nbsp;quite the metamorphosis for Biig Piig, who steals the show in vampire villain mode.&nbsp;Meanwhile, the surreal aesthetic and horror concept has the wider impact of visualising the idea of toxic love, and how the darker side of our personalities&nbsp;can run riot in the heat of an argument.It's another&nbsp;intriguing step forward for Milo Blake - this time into a&nbsp;tangibly creepy netherworld&nbsp;- with the help of excellent cinematography by&nbsp;Deon Van Zyl, and a kinetically breathless edit by&nbsp;Lainy Black.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Josh Thornton-Allan directs an strikingly art directed performance&nbsp;promo for James Bay's Give Me The Reason.&nbsp;Effortlessly elegant, the video centres on Bay's emotional performance of the song, further elevated by impressive art direction and inspired lighting.The emblematic backdrop of a glowing orange sun provides a canvas for some striking silhouettes, and matches the emotive thematic elements in the lyrics.“I was really interested in the work of Olafur Eliasson, an artist who uses large scale light constructions in his work - particularly monochromatic light,” explains Thornton-Allan. “This seemed like a really unique way to explore the shifting emotionality of a dying relationship."We approached the lighting from a purely practical position, creating a monochromatic lighting setup with our giant sun and then during the chorus filling James with colour using regular, chromatic spotlights.”&nbsp;It is a perfect example of simplicity done right, and a promising comeback for the singer-songwriter, in anticipation of his third studio album.&nbsp;[imgtoken data:1][imgtoken data:2]

Bailey Tom Bailey explores an obscure&nbsp;underground gambling ring in his promo for Folly Group.&nbsp;The video for&nbsp;I Raise You (The Price Of Your Head) starts normally enough - with a simple performance in a gloomy garage - but when two of the band members decapitate the other pair, things start to go South.The two heads are pitted against each other, forced bite and fight their way out of the situation, until the tables are turned.&nbsp;With a deadpan vibe and hilarious performances, the video is an amusing yet&nbsp;absurd&nbsp;way to spend four minutes - and the music is pretty damn good too.&nbsp;

Spencer Young creates a rich display of vivid images to symbolise positive messages of joy, aspiration and strength in Obongjayar's Try.&nbsp;The director, who has recently signed to Hello Love, has created a series of portraits&nbsp;of the London-based Nigerian&nbsp;singer-songwriter for the first release from his upcoming debut album.&nbsp;Some of the most striking imagery shows Obongjayar and his brightly, regally dressed&nbsp;dancers standing still and strong - as if in defiance of Young's backdrop of evocative, billowing skies.In contrast to a sense of imposing majesty, drive and ambition that is evoked in those moving still life portraits is the innocence of a young boy who observes Obangjayar&nbsp;on his TV. The boy provides the emotional heart of the video, dancing alone in a moving representation of joy, and then transported into the regal zone.From a man waiting alone in the wings for a curtain call, to a young boy peeking out from behind the net curtains, the video touches on themes of isolation and perseverance as Obongjayar sings 'It's no guarantee our lives will change, but all we do is try'.&nbsp;
