Luke Losey continues his excellent run of recent videos for techno legends Orbital with a charming, textural promo for Are You Alive?, featuring Penelope Isles. Following the UKMVA-nominated animated promo for Smiley and slice-of-life grittiness of the Sleafords Mods collab Dirty Rat, this one is rather more serene, combining performance with patterned square overlays, creating a simple yet pleasing effect."It's a simple minimal analogue looking piece, a bit of funky dystopian retrofuturism," explains Losey. "Someone remarked it looks like the kind of video they would be watching in a bar in the Star Wars series Andor - which is, of course, a great compliment."A great compliment indeed, and a video well worth the watch.

Dan Macdonald directs a bonkers animation for dance producer Northern Texas Fantasy's **U&I&ME&U**. Inspired by vaporwave aesthetics - a style built upon a certain blend of pastel-hued retrofuturism - the video portrays a party that soon becomes intergalactic. Trippy and great fun, the video is the lovechild of late 90s nostalgia and contemporary technology, mashing graphics of all kinds to create something distinctive and utterly captivating.

Jay Green is back with visuals for old school banger Don't Know About You by B Live, featuring Becky Hill and JME. The promo makes effective use of Green's VFX skills, as the artists perform in swirling futuristic cubes, which bounce, rotate and distort at random. Like a pinball machine on acid, we switch between these setups in a warped, hyperreal fashion, whilst the overall aesthetic leans heavily into early Noughties retro-futurism. The switch-ups in colour palette and frantic camera movements alongside the energetic performances make this one to remember.

George Moore and Jack Pell bring the retro vibes in his animated promo for David Guez. The video for The Corners Of Your Mind is a creative collaboration between Moore and animator Jack Pell, and follows a chase within someone's brain - as the chase ramps up, memory and reality begin to fracture. Achieved through the use of a greenscreen treadmill and some After Effects trickery, the video takes inspiration from a host of references, from the title sequence of Catch Me If You Can and the shifting Escher staircases in Labyrinth, to the aesthetic of early Vectrex games consoles and the digital landscapes of Tron.The retrofuturistic aesthetic feels very much in tune with our contemporary obsession with 80s and 90s nostalgia, and the glitchy graphics touch upon an uncharted world that exists only in science fiction and old video games.
