Sheffield-based director Kelli Watson directs a thought-provoking promo for indie/alternative rock duo Nihilists. Penned and performed by the band's James Mudriczki - formerly of Puressence - the track Climbing Over Bodies recounts a man's experience during the Hungarian Rising in 1956. The video - shot in Sheffield on zero budget and filmed guerilla-style - takes the themes of resentment and economic hardship in the song, and projects them onto a contemporary setting.Sara Prinsloo plays a woman who roams the city carrying a placard with a simple, uncompromising message: We're All F*cked. And the lack of response from her fellow citizens to her protest serves to strenghten the power of her message. With a raw, intimate aesthetic and a quick-fire editing style, Watson makes this simple idea work over the length of the video. A promising first step into the medium by a new directing talent.
