As Xadi grapples with a new musical direction, he spawns a violent doppelganger, in Zach Joseph's minacious promo for The Ultimate Taurus. Opening with a shot of the artist looking at a mysterious bag in the boot of his car, breathless and concerned - never a good sign - viewers are then taken on a rip-roaring journey through stylistic performance vignettes. With themes of death, rebirth and finding oneself, it's a bloody, effervescent visual with a hauntingly abstract narrative.

C. Yuhki Oka directs an evocative promo for Malik Diao X Fred Red. The video for Dighnasty takes the form of a visual poem, exploring how the mind can wander around and what happens if it can't find its way back home.The enigmatic narrative is presented through movement and character, with a group of individuals who transcend the present moment in time, in surrender to a higher power or meaning. "Some call it a soul, some call it energy, some call it a ghost - but the idea of mind and body connect them all," Yukhi explains. "In every culture and religion, there is always some kind of term that represents us as humans rather than the flesh and body that we live in."From the eccentric styling through to the minacious red lighting in the latter part of the video, it's a stirring vision that commands viewer's full attention.

Timothy Saccenti directs a super-intense performance promo for Metallica. Following the hypnotic promo for Lux Æterna - also directed by Saccenti - that was released at the end of 2022, the video for Screaming Suicide is more of an intimate portrait of the band, focusing on their performance in a simple yet striking way. The energy is electric, as to be expected, and the gritty black and white aesthetic gives the whole thing a grungy, minacious feel.

Balan Evans directs an impressive promo for Irish rock band Just Mustard's Still. Shot entirely in-camera without any visual effects, the video focuses on a close-up eyeball which reflects a series of abstract projections and patterns, and Just Mustard's lead singer Katie Ball. Haunting, unsettling and impossible to turn away from, Evans's video is smart and beautifully executed, creating an enigmatic atmosphere that is utterly absorbing.

James Barnes directs a fiery promo for Scarlxrd in the latest result from his longstanding collaboration with the artist. For the video for The Walking Dead, Barnes strips things back to basics, with a cinematic aesthetic which encapsulates an impassioned performance. It's a simple yet fitting concept, which boasts plenty of headbanging and slow-mo shots of roaring flames and the artist's haunting new mask."The Walking Dead is a homage to one of Scarlxrd’s favourite bands Slipknot and their Psychosocial visual," explains Barnes. "I’ve now hung him from a train, had the Russian mob shoot him, chucked him down a snowy Hungarian cliff and set him on fire. Long may it continue!"

Louis Bhose directs his second video for Maisie Peters, the fun-filled promo for Psycho. Following his video for John Hughes Movie a few months ago - and his stint as a guest on The Promonews Podcast a few weeks back - Bhose presents a twisting narrative punctuated by a handful of Maisie clones, amping up the surreal vibes of his previous collaboration with the artist. As always, (the real) Peters is mesmerising in her performance, and her willingness to take a chance on an abstract vision pays off hugely, in one of her most exciting and engaging videos to date.
