Labi Odebunmi directs a very cool and cinematic promo for this first-time team-up of two big Nigerian artists, BNXN and Asake. The video for Eja Meja (meaning '2 fishes', an idiom in Nigeria referring to a person who is successful) features a mix of performance and snapshots of narrative, cutting between a bar and lingering shots in the back of a car. "Given the sonics and aura, I wanted to create something effortless yet cinematic with quiet-luxury wealth undertones," explains Odebunmi. "Asake also wanted something smooth which was great as I really didn’t want the visuals to overpower the fable elements."I decided to set [the video] in a Coppola/Scorsese La Cosa Nostra syndicate world where they would be able to easily tell their story gems with audience-focussed attention."A sit-down meeting & toast to life with both artists at the helm - literally and metaphorically. I liked furthering this tone with BNXN being chauffeured through an affluent neighbourhood in a very rare vintage Mercedes Benz that actual past global heads-of-states & royalty were carried in. Little trivia also the same car they used in The Last King of Scotland."
