Having produced numerous videos in London and elsewhere, Dobi Manolova makes her music video directing debut for Bulgarian duo Gena/Rushi, telling a story of a couturier who finds romance in a fantasy world. With echoes of Paul Thomas Anderson's The Phantom Thread, this is an intriguing mini-drama in which the couturier, played by Rushi, undertakes the creation of a new garment with scientific precision. Suddenly the salon is replaced by the wide open landscapes, and the couturier and his model/muse are riding horses across fields, and falling passionately in love with each other. Rushi is under the watchful gaze of his partner Gena, as business partner in modern reality, brooding undertaker figure in the Old Mexico fantasy. Manolova uses the natural beauty around her home city of Sofia very effectively to create this American West or Mexican-style vision, and it's an auspicious start to her directing career.
