videoDuda Beat 'Tocar Você' by Cristina StreciwikCristina Streciwik directs a frenetic promo for Brazilian artist Duda Beat. Alongside creative director Marcelo Jarosz, Streciwik pays homage to the world of 80's VHS horror movies, with a romanticised, high-fashion twist. Hopping between gritty analogue textures and slick performance footage, the video is imbued with the chaotic sensibilities of public access television, harking back to the days of hotline ads, text overlays and truly strange conceptual television. “It’s an energetic song, kind of hypnotic, so we decided to bring some kind of edginess to the editing and footage textures, all done with analog system of image capture," Streciwik mentions. “It all started with the live concerts. We were working on the backdrops for Duda’s new show, when we decided to turn it to a music video, as the images were so meaningful and strong," Jarosz adds. The result is a mix of visual languages, disrupted and re-invented. It’s like to walk-in in a pop-store with a cutting edge architecture where you find dozens of weird home videos to delight yourself. It’s that contemporary flavor with a vintage touch.
