French animation director Axel Digoix first worked with Tuareg desert-blues collective Tinariwen in 2016 with the video for Tenere Taqqal. And he has reunited with the pioneers of Saharan desert-blues to create brilliant animated visuals for their latest album Hoggar - including the video for Erghad Afewo.

Digoix tells a gripping story, where politics and personal drama collides in the Sahara, rendered in his distinctive comic book-like animation style. The technique allows him to weave a story of epic proportions over an extended timeline, but it remains distinctly musical.

A great piece of work that has been nominated for Best Animation in a Video at the 2026 UK Music Video Awards, being held at The Roundhouse in London on November 4th.
