South London fivepiece Borscht step into a surreal videogame created by claymation artist Edie Lawrence, who gives them a simple mission: find the heart before time runs out.

Lawrence has previously brought her unmistakeable animation style to work for KneeCap, Warmduscher, Mary In The Junk Yard, Jamie T, IDLES, Sad Night Dynamite, Goat Girl and more. For Left Feeling Blue - a reflection on disappointment, rejection and the feeling of repeatedly coming up short - each band member selected characters and accessories that best represented them before Lawrence sculpted the heads and designed the costumes by hand.

In the video, the players seek the heart through a wonderous world of wooded forests, flame-engulfed castles and wizardry portals - but find nothing but sorrow.

Edie Lawrence had previously worked with the band on their visualier for Colour Of Forever. And the production itself was quite a feat: Lawrence created it while travelling in Vietnam, producing the video in collaboration with HFL Animations in Hanoi.

"As this marks Borscht’s first release, we wanted not only to create visuals for the track but also to introduce the band and their identities," says Lawrence. "This led us to develop a game inspired concept in which each member appears as a mystical avatar, reflecting aspects of their real life personalities and features. 

"At the time, I was travelling through Vietnam and was fortunate to discover an incredible stop motion studio in Hanoi, where I collaborated with HFL Animations.

"Since the track explores a series of disappointments, we felt that visualising repeated lost lives or failed missions aligned naturally with its themes. The game’s objective became a search for a heart, symbolising an extra life or second chance, rather than focusing on a specific gender or face."
