Martha Goddard 'Voices' by Tom Patrick Coley
Promonews - 17th July 2025
Martha Goddard is challenged by her malevolent alter-ego - a physical manifestation of the intrusive thoughts in her head - in Tom Patrick Coley's dramatic fantasy for the singer-songwriter's song Voices.
During Martha's walk in the forest, her döppelgänger appears, dressed in scarlet, attempting to take control of her mind by changing her brain chemistry. Alongside the narrative, there's also a liquid light show, an organic graphic element that illustrates the singer's constantly changing emotional state and projected onto her face in real time.
Tom Patrick Coley says: "In this surreal piece, I wanted to depict the mental fragility many of us experience, and how simple chemistry within us can influence our lives. This is more relevant than ever, especially in the fast-paced modern world we all live in. At the end, Martha sees the London skyline in the distance; she is now gazing at her future, inspired by the endless possibilities that lie ahead."
