As England prepare for the big one - the Women's World Cup Final - some of the most enduring female stars in British music and breakthrough female talent have come together to create Call Me A Lioness, accompanied by an uplifting 'chant video' of England fans directed by Pip + Lib.

Featuring Melanie C, Self Esteem, Ellie Rowsell (Wolf Alice), Al Greenwood (Sports Team), Marika Hackman, Rachel Chinouriri, Shura, Jasmine Jethwa, Rose Gray, Highlyy, and co-writer Olivia Dean, they build a musical squad of 11 artists named Hope FC, in tribute to legendary England football player, coach and manager Hope Powell and representing 'Hope For Change'

Call Me A Lioness is raising money for women’s football charities Football Beyond Borders, Street Soccer, Girls United and Manchester Laces. Supporting grassroots girls and women’s football, all whilst celebrating the incredible team who have made it all the way to the Final of the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup on Sunday (August 20th).

"As soon as we heard the track, we felt this kick towards doing a chant," say Pip + Lib. "We wanted to create something that captures even 1% of what it feels like like to be watching the games in stadiums, pubs, flats. It’s a fan film about fans.

"The chant is made up from the chorus of Call Me A Lioness, and is sung in every which kind of way. Quiet, loud, out of tune, harmonised. Cast entirely from real football fans; families, builders, queer couples, grassroot teams, lads on lime bikes, NHS nurses, uber drivers and even the local ice cream van man Ali! It was important to us to cast a true picture of the fans; everyone is behind the Lionesses this World Cup and we wanted to put a lens to that.

"It was an incredibly precious project, which required blind faith that people would turn up to empty pub, trust that people chanting completely out of time would sound any good, and above all making something deserving of women’s football fans. Let’s celebrate women’s football fans more!"
