Dinosaur Pile-Up 'Round The Bend' by Michael Robertson

Dinosaur Pile-Up are immortalised as cartoon characters in this heart-wrenching story of lost lovers and a car ride gone wrong, directed by Michael Robertson at South African animation studio, Toon53 Productions.
Influenced by old-school TV cartoon shows and action films, the atmospheric visual is layered in its concept as well as technique, unwrapping a narrative that sees frontman Matt Bigland try to save his girlfriend from beyond the grave.
Balancing the story with emotionally affecting flashbacks and regrets, the project is brilliantly structured and a perfect complement to the wistful track.
MICHAEL ROBERTSON:
"The team's creative style and execution was heavily influenced by the Lead Animator's love for the 80's and 90's cartoons, Scooby Doo with a bit of a graphic novel influence. John Wick was a great influence for the car chase scenes. Matt Bigland from the band had a clear vision and communicated his ideas and story perfectly to us here at Toon53 Productions.
"After a few phone calls and emails ironing out what the video needed to look like and the message that the video needed to communicate we hit the ground running. We had the band sign-off every step of the way from boards to post-production so that we were always on the same page."
MATT BIGLAND (DINOSAUR PILE-UP):
“Seeing yourself immortalised as a cartoon is always a trip, but the end result had us all bouncing off the walls!”
