Bastille 'Those Nights' by Crooked Cynics
Promo News - 6th June 2019
Bastille's Dan Smith is racked in existential angst on a couch amid a sea of half-naked bodies, in Crooked Cynics' video for Those Nights.
And the real emotion of the piece comes partly from the constantly moving camera, executing a swooping and swirling choreography that disorientates the viewer - and seems to accentuate Smith's misery.

TOM MIDDLETON (CROOKED CYNICS):
"When we set out to make Those Nights we had a pretty clear idea in our head of how we wanted the camera to move and that it needed to be a true one-shot. We worked closely with our DoP, the amazingly talented Tristan Chenais, and we soon realised the only real option do this was through motion control.
"It allowed us to emphasise Dan's isolation in the space, to match the emotional sentiment of the song - the feeling at the end of a big night where the room is spinning and you're just looking for someone to hold onto to keep your feet on the ground."
