Snow Patrol 'Empress' by Brett Simon
David Knight - 18th May 2018
A boy and a girl embark on a classic pre-romance rite of passage - the mock-serious chase - in and around the unmistakeable streets and buildings of Havana, in Brett Simon's video for Snow Patrol's Empress.
Beautifully shot by Dustin Lane, winner of Best Cinematography at last year's UKMVAs, the action and chemistry between the young actors is captured with the fresh yet classic style of the French Nouvelle Vague. It's a superb accompaniment to a properly rousing Snow Patrol song - the second single from the band's new album Wildness is their best in ages.
Brett Simon has created imagery for the whole album, to be unveiled when it comes out later this month. The Empress video seriously whets the appetite for that.
