House Of EL (ft. Laura Mvula & Jay Prince) 'Elijah' by Raja Virdi
Raja Virdi's video for House of EL has been under wraps for nearly a year, waiting for the right moment to be released.
It's a restrained but impressive affair which features engaging performances from each of the featured artists, captured in pools of light by the roving camera, in a single take.
"I've known Kieron (House of EL) for a while now and when he told me about this project and played me the song, of course I had to say 'yes' to directing. It's such a powerful song and the features by Laura Mvula and Jay Prince take it to the next level. All three of them were a joy to work with and their natural performance ability made my job a dream.
"I really wanted to keep this concept simple, by finding our talents in their pools of light. As this was a one-taker, there was lots of running around by Kieron to hit his marks, but I think by take 4 or 5 we nailed it.
"I had a fantastic team behind the camera with production headed up by my go-to producer Byron McNally, shot beautifully by Oliver Ford and opped precisely by Josh Brooks. I've got to give a shout out to Jax Harney at CHEAT for colouring this so beautifully and keeping the tones exactly how I envisaged.
"Super happy with this video and glad to see it finally released after just under a year!"
