Hak Baker 'Like It Or Lump It' by Broken Antenna
David Knight - 19th Dec 2017
Formerly a member of the B.O.M.B Squad grime collective, Hak Baker has become a compelling performer of 'G-Folk' and troubadour-chronicler of life in his home patch of the Isle Of Dogs. He's also made some strong videos, and the latest directed by Broken Antenna is the strongest yet: a remarkably vivid celebration of the traditional East London 'knees-up'.
Shot in 35mm and 16mm by DoP Harry Wheeler and graded by Jack McGinity at Time Based Arts, the Like It Or Lump It video is an authentic document with a sense of in-your-face hyperreality. It's more excellent work from the Broken Antenna directing team who's video for Slick Don's Highs And Lows was nominated at this year's UKMVAs.
