Obongjayar 'Endless' by Matilda Finn
After her excellent video for Danny Brown's Lost, Matilda Finn's video for Nigeria-born, London-based artist Obongjayar is just as atmospheric, and perhaps even more disorientating.
A wandering and rotating steadicam shot establishes the extraordinary setting: a nightclub of fan-fluttering clubbers, into which is intrudced a coffin, carried by dancing pallbearers. The camera passes into a daylight underworld of red clay, then returns to the club and its unlikely funeral procession. It's another video where Finn creates an unpredictable and sensual world with great conviction.
