Charlotte OC 'Shell' by Vicky Lawton
David Knight - 15th June 2017
Vicky Lawton helms a video for Charlotte OC that doubles as a drama class. Shot in a large warehouse space, words appear on the floor, on cards and elsewhere - Sweet, Anger, Strong, Weak, Powerless, Passionate - prompting Charlotte to assume different emotions during her performance of Shell.
This not only works well with the idea behind the song, that Charlotte has been emptied out by a broken relationship. But the words and emotions, also represent the stages of a healing process. And sometimes it gets worse before it gets better.
VICKY LAWTON:
"This is our third video collaboration and it combines all the elements I love. A bold and heartfelt performance from Charlotte that adapts and twists and turns throughout the track. Plus graphic signage and black and white visuals to really give Charlotte space to go wild. And she did.
"This video was incredibly fun to make, with each take and Charlotte’s delivery giving me goosebumps."
