Husky Loops 'Tempo' by Tom Ringsby
David Knight - 18th May 2017
Tom Ringsby bottles the driving energy of Husky Loops' Tempo, with this entertaining take on the angst and paranoia associated with urban life.
In-camera whips and zooms set up a series of choreographed scenes where the identities of the cast are gradually revealed, and a not-entirely-serious mood of rising mania is established - culminating in Husky Loops' lead singer Danio heading out into the East London night in his kimono.
TOM RINGSBY:
"All transitions and effects were captured in camera. There’s not a single shots that isn’t whip panning, tracking, zooming or running. The cast and crew quickly developed an incredible rhythm as we did countless takes of “action, zoom, turn, whip!” Resulting in a few minor whiplash injuries.
"The final shot of lead singer Danio stumbling through Canning Town in a gold kimono was a highlight for us and the local drug dealers who insisted we couldn’t be shooting a music video without any naked women present.
"Extra special thanks to Greg White who let us smoke out his van in a Peckham car park and the band themselves for sacrificing a few years of their lives for that scene."
