Sundara Karma 'Happy Family' by Stroma Cairns
David Knight - 29th Mar 2017
A boy left home alone deals with the freedom and the loneliness in a wholly feasible way in Stroma Cairns's video for Sundara Karma's Happy Family.
In an excellent performance from young Luca Lamche - it's just him all the way through - it leads to an outpouring of emotion that culminates in him donning one of his mother's dresses, as a way of dealing with her continuing absence.
Stroma Cairns says that the story was inspired by her own personal experience, as well as the lyrics. "After speaking to Oscar [Pollack, the band's frontman] the idea reflected his own childhood too and it was great to talk it through with him," she tells FADER.
