Mr. Jukes ft BJ The Chicago Kid 'Angels/your Love' by I Saw John First
Strange Beast director I Saw John First has directed the first video released as part of Jack Steadman’s surprise solo project, Mr Jukes. It captures the joy and exuberance of the collaboration between Jack and BJ The Chicago Kid, bursting in colours and fizzing with energetic transformations.
I Saw John First manages the trick of creating visuals that are both dark and bright: a circle of ghost children, eye imagery and the oversaturated visuals, all moving in time to the rhythm, merge into swirling animated flourishes around BJ's performance. It builds towards the explosive finish with swirling patterns capturing the euphoria of the horns and vocals.
John has used a mashup of techniques in creating the work, with frame by frame animation, rotoscoping, live action and 3D elements all interacting together.
