Bastille 'Blame' by Elliott Sellers
Rule of thumb: if you're watching something that begins with a quote from Friedrich Nietzsche, it's probably not gonna be a comedy.
Elliott Sellers' video for Bastille is, however, a huge dollop of nightmarish, real-world surrealism set in the throes of a mysterious cult. People from all walks of life come together to kiss a pair of disembodied lips that emerge from a bowl of water. It gives them life, and they become euphoric. It's unsettling in its conviction to the mania surrounding these lips, and the ultra-wide shots that distort everything not in the centre serve to enhance this bizarre, warped cinematic world.
