Matoma & Becky Hill 'False Alarm ' by Samy Mosher
Luke Bather - 10th Aug 2016
Samy Mosher's False Alarm video for Matoma & Becky Hill is all about the fiery passions of love.
The X-Men-esque storyline uses fire as a very literal visual here lifted straight from the lyrics of the chorus. It's implemented with great effect - for the first half of the video you've no real idea that anything out of the ordinary is taking place. It's a gorgeous looking video, full of magic hour shots in the desert, and fairground fun.
It all feels like familiar territory until we sit down in what looks like an interrogation room with a doctor, and that's when the fire starts.
I'm a big fan of a bait-and-switch narrative and Samy Mosher implements it here brilliantly.
Although there seems to be a very quick scene where a man who can burst into flames seemingly uncontrollably is at a petrol station and that just seems like it wouldn't end well.
