Whitney 'No Matter Where We Go' by Alan Del Rio Ortiz
David Knight - 9th June 2016
Whitney are a band who take a bunch of old influences, like Sixties and Seventies country rock, to make their music. But Alan Del Rio Ortiz's video for No Matter Where We Go, keys into the important fact it all comes from youthful enthuiasm, energy and optimism. His video is about young love in Chicago, among several real couples - some of whom have to put up with the band playing in their living rooms - and has real joie de vivre.
It's a very loveable video for what will hopefully be soon a much-loved band.
ALAN DEL RIO ORTIZ:
"For this clip, I wanted to take a documentary approach to create a video about young love. It’s a subject that pops up in my work because I think it is a special feeling that changes drastically as you get older, and so for this I wanted to capture small honest moments of it. I felt it fit with the band's musical style which is very honest and sophisticated, but also seemingly effortless and uncomplicated.
"We cast couples in Chicago and who shared that intricacy. They all have a love for each other that is easy to see, but it’s a very complex feeling under the surface."
