Craig McDean and Masha Vasyukova channel their clear appreciation of film history into this sombre piece for Benjamin Clementine.

Using a variety of frame rates, camera tricks, reversed footage and the odd bit of compositing, the duo have created a beautiful black and white piece of work that's incredibly reminiscent of German expressionist artworks of the 1920s. Clementine is seen here tearing through paper walls before sitting opposite himself at an empty table, before floating down a hotel corridor in a Spike Lee-esque dolly shot, embraced by disembodied hands.

A solid combination of creatively executed visuals and beautiful cinematoraphy ties this video together into a textural, rich package.
