Oscar 'Sometimes' by Bryan Schlam
The title frame of Bryan Schlam's video for Oscar's Sometimes comes with a big claim, promising 'a fantastic journey through the West featuring the finest clubs and organizations our great nation has to offer'.
Happily, Schalm delivers in spades in this very enjoyable promo in which the British indie-rocker (whose debut LP Cut And Paste comes out in May) encounters all manner of hobby groups – from The Lawn Bowling Club and The Riverside Live Steamers (the model train enthusiasts) to The Cal State Grand Terrace Jam Skaters and The Dazzlers. Oscar rarely puts his guitar down throughout, and certainly looks like he's having a great time.
There's also a clear stylistic debt to Wes Anderson, but the video's joie de vivre is all its own.
