Vant 'Fly By Alien' by Youth Hymns
Cat Velez - 11th Feb 2016
Youth Hymns paired up with (or kidnapped, as they call it) illustrator and animator Russell Taysom to complete some zany pop-punk visuals for British rock outfit Vant's track Fly By Alien.
The video features frontman Mattie Vant wearing bright red video goggles as he travels past meteors and onto earth where he runs into whirling pollution, tsunamis, volcanic eruptions and other cataclysmic phenomena. Illustrating lyrics such as "that race is gonna kill itself", the video provides cartoonified examples of impending doom in the face of the global climate change crisis.
YOUTH HYMNS:
"Russell the illustrator was very accommodating, especially after we kidnapped him and forced him to draw for two weeks straight. After the final 24-hour render, we were certain we’d made The Guinness Book of World Records. Turns out ‘Frozen' had a single frame that took 132 hours. Disney… aways trying to one-up us!"
