Palace 'Kiloran' by Cyrus Mirzashafa
Cat Velez - 16th June 2015
Cyrus Mirzashafa brings us this video for Palace's chilled-out track Kiloran that champions a home movie aesthetic, complete with a split screen like a vintage hand-held slide viewer. The video merges experimental visuals and holiday snapshots of summers gone by – an excellent marriage of woozy sounds and dreamy images.Â
CYRUS MIRZASHAFA:
"The video was sort of inspired by that scene in Flash Gordon when, Dr. Hans Zarkov is mind-tortured by Klytus (gold face), with this elaborate device that plays back Zarkov's life and conception in pictures. I like that idea of all that imagery from an old man's life lucidly playing out with the track, in a non-literal way. And having some fat lips to sing the lyrics of course."
