Rihanna 'American Oxygen' by The Uprising Creative
Cat Velez - 20th Apr 2015
Darren Craig, Jonathan Craven and Jeff Nicholas of The Uprising Creative have created their second music video for Rihanna, following 2013's What Now. This time, for American Oxygen, they present US history using stock footage of famous and infamous moments.
"We wanted to showcase both the positive and the negative," the directors have explained. "The struggles within the country and the ones those outside the country face in coming here; the dark side of the positive and the light side of the negative."
The Uprising Collective performed an exhaustive research to find the footage, which does an excellent job of highlighting the desperation of troubled immigrants chasing an American Dream in a country marred with problems of its own: strained race relations, poor social mobility and police brutality issues.
