Port Isla 'In The Long Run' by Joe Marcantonio
Norwich fourpiece Port Isla join forces with director Joe Marcantonio for the video to rousing indie rocker In The Long Run - the title cut from their new EP.
Joe shoots a simple, enthusiastic band performance in a large warehouse-type space with split-screen techniques driving the promo.
JOE MARCANTONIO:
"We decided on the split screen idea, as it seemed the perfect marriage of the band’s need for a performance video and my preference for doing something unique and interesting wherever possible… I tend to find ‘band playing’ videos a bit too repetitive, but I think we managed to make a film that plays with composition and tempo, and keeps the audience hooked in.
"We didn't have a lot of reasources, and we had to make a few hard decisions on what we could and couldnt achieve… but the guys at Squire managed to work a few miracles with the small budget we had and we got two cameras, dollies, track and my favoured K35 lenses - the same as i used for my Rhodes promo last year.
"The total for set ups on the shoot was about 43 on each camera, so there were an awful lot of rushes to go through and only a week to nail the edit… a few late nights cutting were inevitable, but we got there in the end!
"The shoot was also a bit extra special for me, as it included the first ever set visit of my 5 month old baby, Vinnie. He loved it."
