Lil Silva 'Mabel' by Laura Coulson
Luke Tierney - 30th July 2014
Everyday instances are caught by Laura Coulson for Lil Silva's Mabel as she follows a group of school children in this candid promo.
Love is the theme, exercised in the ordinary – whether that's represented by signed school leaver shirts, playing football, or remembering those not with us.
LAURA COLSON:
"Silva and I worked together on the imagery for the EP artwork. It had a kind of open ended feel to it, so we wanted to carry this on with the video.
"The song was written about Silva's grandmother Mabel and about how love remains even though she's gone. I didn't want there to be a clear narrative, just subtle hints to childhood memories and love existing in everyday life.
"All the kids we cast for the video had amazing personalities, all young and excited about the days filming. I wanted to capture this and also show some of the real moments and awkwardness in the footage where their eyes accidentally linger towards the camera."
