Temi Dollface 'Pata Pata' by James Slater
David Knight - 17th July 2013
This enjoyably eye-popping video for Temi Dollface's Pata Pata by James Slater (otherwise known as half of directing team Good Times) was inspired by the idealized, pastel suburbia that is 1950s TV advertising.
It was shot on 16mm film by DOP Carl Burke to give it an authentically grainy feel. But the retro aesthetic is dragged kicking and screaming into the 21st century, by populating the period 50s interior with high energy African dancers (Temi is from Nigeria). The combination makes for nicely twisted and highly watchable offering by James.
