Blitz Kidz ‘On My Own’ by Joe Connor

Promonews - 29th Apr 2013

Joe Connor contrasts a spirited performance from Nantwich 4-piece Blitz Kids with a narrative about cyclic, negative social behaviour in his lively promo for On My Own.

Joe Connor contrasts a spirited performance from Nantwich 4-piece Blitz Kids with a narrative about cyclic, negative social behaviour in his lively promo for On My Own. Casting actor Alex Whipman in the lead as troubled young man, Joe had this to say about the production: “This idea actually came from conversations with Joe the lead singer. We spoke at length at the ease of falling into negative cycles, which I boiled down to the concept of a character trying to leave a room, a simple action that opened a lot of playful possibilities in the way I told it. It was important that the story stayed relatable to the band and having this simple framework was key to that. “I’m really pleased with the performance of Alex Whipman – He’s got an incredible look and his eyes tell a great deal of the story for us which is what you want from an actor. I also mixed up the way I shot the band, It was a great opportunity for Simon Hawken to throw the camera around a bit and try to capture their incredible energy – after every take they just wanted to go again!”
