Theme Park ‘Ghost’ by Joe Connor
Promonews - 17th Apr 2013
The prolific Joe Connor has directed a pastel-hued performance video for Theme Park’s Ghost, that suggests that summer might actually be around the corner – a pretty far-fetched idea, but there it is. He splits the screen into five vertical strips, adding a dynamic to the performance and intercutting other summery elements too.
Joe Connor: “I’ve wanted to work with these guys for ages so it was a real pleasure. The track has a great groove and I wanted to do a clean performance video that showed each member of the band and also got across a sense of movement and pace. I concocted this idea of seeing them ripple across the screen in out of time crops and splices, having the band bounce through the frame works with the rhythm.
“The track is so summery and the cutaway textures are all elements that remind me of the beach, underplayed and photographed in macro to keep it off the nose. They hint towards a summer vibe in the driftwood, palms and rusted metal but stay as texture as oppose to story elements.”
