Nero 'Reaching Out' by Johanna Andersson

Johanna Andersson's video for Nero's Reaching Out is a visual feast of yachts, bikinis, Porsches, helicopters and mile-high typography - everything you'd find in those extravagant title sequences of classic 1980s TV shows.
With Reaching Out sampling the iconic Hall & Oates hit Out of Touch, Johanna wanted to get that authentic 1980s 'yacht rock' look, so Corbis Motion were approached as a partner allowing Johanna to build a TV title sequence-style narrative around the incredible original 1980s stock footage exclusively from their archives - with just two clips of Nexus shot footage.
"The idea was to reference TV title sequences from the 80's, like Miami Vice and Kojak, and by using authentic stock footage we tell the story of a young couple hustling all the way top," Johanna explains. "When we sent off the work in progress to Nero, the comments that kept coming back were 'more girls'. We didn't have any more footage of 80s girls in bikinis so we had to look around the office. And let me tell you, I saw a completely new side of our receptionist, Sarah..."
